View Full Version : What car have you bought home lately???

My VehiCROSS has been my daily driver for 8 years now and has almost 100K on the odo and I've just ordered a new car! Is everyone else still driving theirs all the time or have you bought something new and put the VX on part-time duty? (Unfortunately by "part-time" I probably mean snowy, salty, slushy Michigan/Ontario winters, mostly). If you've bought a new car or are thinking about it seriously post a picture of it here so we can see what might appeal to VX people once they fall in love with something younger and hotter. (meaning don't post your stinking minivan).

I ordered an orange-on-orange 2010 Camaro 300hp V6 LT2. It is not only the sweetest ride that I know of and is all-American/Canadian, but I've spent the past 5 years working on both the showcar and production versions and I'm now I actually get to drive it! This is what it will look like!

In regards to the Hot Wheels VX-- wise, very wise.

Hey, isn't that the new U.S. Gov't Camaro??? Since my tax dollars now own it; throw me the keys!!!

Well; I was going to buy a new car, but I bought a new AVR for my Home Theater instead. It's the "flagship" Pioneer Elite #SC-09TX which has a MSRP of $7K. Check out the new Pioneer Elite #SC-09TX at www.PioneerElectronics.com. Prepare to be "wowed"!!!

I absolutely love that camaro, for the price i think it's a good deal.

However my next ride is definetly a H2, i love that monster & got to own one three to four years by then.

Another rides is the Grand cherokee SRT-8, the infiniti FX37 & chevy Z71.

I've wanted a Camaro since I was 9 yrs old and asked my mom & dad if I could get a 1969 Camaro when I grew up! My Dad (who was a car nut...which is where the car gene obviously came from in me) was sooo proud! "Yup, that's my girl! " He also explained how model years change etc and it would be a long time....well it's been long enough (40 years!) and all that's keeping me from getting one is that little thing called.....mula! Dinero!! $$$ :(

Yes, I'd even take this U.S. Govt issued Camaro! :p Maybe the repair records of GM will get better under gov't ownership! BAHHHHAAAAA!!!, oh wait, I think I just busted a gut laughing so hard!! :laugho:

....but I still want one........:bgwp:

Got a good deal on her & traded in my '96 Dodge Ram w/ 140K miles back in mid-March. Runs good with 4.6L V8 rated @ 300 hp. w/ 5-speed manual. Averages all-around 24-26 mpg. Believe 28-29mpg possible with long highway trip.

Nice thing is...if too many Camaro's hassle me..I could throw on a Ken Belle SC or Rausch SC and put out 475 hp as long as I can find the mula.

I'm thankful every day for my daughter, but unfortunately it's pushed us in the opposite direction as you guys. I previously owned an Infiniti G35 coupe while my wife owned a two-door Honda Accord, but we had to give both those up when we had the baby. Thankfully I had just bought the VX so it was easy to make the argument to keep it based on the fact that we'd take a beating if we had to resell it after only a couple months.

I use the VX as my daily driver, but work is only 5 miles away so it's no biggie. We bought a 2004 Isuzu Axiom (direct injection engine with 2wd/4h/4l tranny - would love to have that in my VX) a few months ago for about 10K with 78K miles on it, but you'd never know it as both the paint and interior are immaculate. Just like with my VX, the Axioms are now so rare that people often ask us if it's a new model.

On the H2 note.... I hear the Chinese just purchased Hummer from GM. Hell just froze over just a little bit.

I bet it further devastates sales when buyers find out they may have to depend upon a Chinese company for warranty work in the very near future (the takeover is supposed to happen in September).

Upside? Maybe the HX Concept will see the light of day.

Is there a better way to persuade one into getting an STi? ;)

And the interior.... wow. I am SO glad they redid it from scratch. Dual material leather with very swank lit gauges and wrap around cockpit. +2 for Subaru in that dept finally.

i would LOVE to have the subaru for playing, but i think all that would get me is arrested and my new ride impounded (we dont have legal areas to do things like that in colorado...the closest we have is frozen lakes ;) )

my reasoning behind the truck- better mileage than an STI, i can pull a boat (once i get one)...and i can make my VX into the trail rig i want it to be :naughty:
ps- give me a chip and an exhuast...then we will race STI vs. diesel

well...i snowboard at least 2 days a week, driving sometimes through a couple of feet of snow, thats number one!
also, my next MAJOR purchase will be a wakeboard boat...planning on trading in some of my toys for it, what else am i supposed to pull a 25 foot boat with?? the VX? ;)
i love the STI but for the price, the truck will get better mileage, have more room, and give me more availibility of things to do...

basically i need something bigger with better mileage.....i dont see any more viable options?

I brought this home a few weeks ago...

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y107/alanbradley/Yaris%20V499MTG/IMG_0089.jpg

2000 Toyota Yaris SR. 1.3 litres of slightly tweaked Japanese compact goodness that returns over 35mpg even with my heavy lead foot.

I needed something that wasn't guzzling the fuel at the same rate the VX does (ie not a Bentley...) and that was cheap to run and insure (<£20/service doing it myself and £145/year TPFT!) and could be relied on when I have 5:30am starts...

I've had 3 Yaris before this one so it was a bit of a no-brainer!

Better mileage in a VX than an STi?!

Now, granted, my VX is S/C'd and only sees the light on Sindays, I mean, Sundays. Roads are more barren, I have no real place to be, and driving it is simply fun. In the end, I turn out about 11-13mpg in the VX.

The STi is a DD. Two days of the week are stop and go traffic, the rest are usually quite tolerable. She does see Saturdays for cruising and errands. Saturdays are also for hanging with friends and simply put, ladies LOVE the STi, hahaha. So far, on average, I get 24-26mpg in the STi. No lie. Even other STi owners swear I am lying, but I kid you all not. She hasn't even seen any autoX yet. I say YET, though I don't think I am gonna go that route with her. The WRX got beat up enough in autoX. The new Borla catback arrives tomorrow so I am installing that this weekend hopefully so that Boxer can rumble and growl like it was meant to. ;)

makes your car feel really sluggish (just got back from sea level with my VX)

i gotta say, i have never felt a VX at sea level. the lowest mine has ever been was moab. but it felt like a completely different vehicle. it was actually fun to drive, usually i just feel dissapointed when i step on it in my VX trying to get over the rockies. You sir need a SC! Mine was flying up Vale Pass on the way home (moab '08) passing cars that were asthmatic in the slow lane. Plus, I didn't need to brake on the downslope because of the great engine braking these things have! Tom, it's a full custom V-twin (sort of like a Harley-Davidson, but there are no actual Harley parts on it). It's not a high dollar custom because a lot of the parts where bought from various catalogs and then had some mild customization done to them, but the bike is 100% unique. It has a soft tail frame with a springer front end, a 100 cubic inch motor and a six speed transmission. I got to ride it during the mock-up phase and it's a monster. It has a ton of low end torque, and it will FLY down the interstate with no problems.

I seem to remember you wanting a bike so get one and let's go RIDE.

Um correct me if I am wrong. But it has less parts so it cant be that hard to work on the engine.. A guy at my work had a old rx7 that said would never die. He said engine was a cinch and he is no auto mechanic. He has just tinkered enough with crap over the years.

The spectra to 2004 and the old sephia, yes, but anything since then is Kia/ Hyundia despign. The sportage is sand alone too. The 3.5 that Kia used up to 05/06 was a Mitsubishi design. Kia bought the design under contracts, like theny did for the Lotus Elan, built a Korean version.

Okay, suffeciently threadjacked at this point.

Okay, recent vehicle brought home, this year, 2008 Kia Sportage, 2009 Kia Rio, 2010 Kia Soul, 2009 Kia Borrego. I don't want to go into last year ;)

That was always my favorite Subie, that and the Brat. Don't care for the rest of them, really. I bet you are chomping at the bit but at the same time figure you have enough vehicles, right?

Ya, I am fresh out of room. Garage full and driveway called for.

It's funny you brought that up though cause that determined my choice. It would be the VX or that.... and sry VX lovers but it was a close call. To get it, I would probably get rid of the VX. So.... I decided that the VX stays. For now. Changing manifold gaskets one more time and if the CEL comes back for the same reason one more time.... she gets sold to some random Russian who wants a S/C, hahaha. THEN..... I get an old RS. ;)

We recently picked up a 2010 Fusion Sport with 3.5L and 6 speed auto. She traded in her 05 mustang, and we are loving the Fusion. It's a zippy machine with 260 HP.
I'm still driving a 2003 Escape with 130k miles on it... But I have the VX and my bike too.

Ford is getting excelent remarks about its current products, especial mention for the fusion
They were able to "jump" over the fence & void goverment bailout help.
Lately i've thoughts about getting a cross bike;Saturday morning i drove by a cycle dealer & chech out this 250cc yamaha TT in blue/white.
This sales guy in his early 20's asked me why a motocross instead of one of the big guys, such as a CRB ?
Told him:Look,i drives a VehiCROSS so a MotoCROSS would add up nicely to the team.
He looked at me like: WTF you're talking about ? A vehi what ? VehiCROSS i replayed; He thought i was messing with him so had to show him what i was talikng about,we walked out side the parking lot & show him what i meant.
He was like: ! holly s... What is that ?
I told you,The VehiCROSS
Oh,ok,alright....I got you ! He said.
But that cars looks very weird though.
Yes,my mother n' law says the same thing too. He laugh.
My girlfriend looked at me protesting : Don't mess with her, some day she'll be physically able to get into the rear seats & drive with us.

With all that he say :That bike is running for 6K,but we have "recession sale" right now so you can drove off the show room for $4900 with oil change free for an year
I told him I need to check out my bank (capital one) to look at my options.
The sales guy say don't worry, the price is firm 'till recession is over, most likely for the next two/three years to come LOL
I noticed that i was the only visitor at the dealer during the 35+ minutes i spent in there, very sad though, especially at a dealer who sales all motocycle brands

Yes sir it sure is. :D Go big or go home I say.. Course I went a little too big the weekend. Note to self dont go over a hill if you dont know what is on other side, Specially a little fast. For me happened to be a 20 foot drop which i had to bail off bike lol.. Shoulder is paying for it today lol.

Well I couldnt pass up what I paid for it really. 2,500 and its a '06. I looked and looked and couldnt find anything better on price.

Ya I love it and glad I went with a 450 as my first dirt bike :D . Super easy to ride as apposed to my buddies 2 stroke (even tho his is older I am sure the newer ones are a bit better but still.)

yikes...450 for a first bike??? thats a lot of power...

just wait till the first time it lifts on you unexpected...i would bet money you will pull the throttle like any newbie...thats the advantage of a smaller bike to learn on, it doesnt launch you at 90mph lol...

glad your enjoying it, be careful, you have a big machine under you.
