So... I found there was a missing lug nut on my right rear wheel. No problem, right? So I try and replace it, but the new lug nut ain't catching or something. I take the wheel off so I can see it better, hoping that it isn't what I already pretty much assume, stripped lug stud. The stud thread doesn't look stripped, really, but there's like some misshapen knot like thing blocking the thread right about where the nut bites. I dunno how that happened. I guess it stripped just at the end. Whatever, can't get another lug nut in in the meantime. Been riding around with one lug nut out.

How do I remove the stud? I assume it's replaceable? I understand that it comes out the back (toward the centerline of truck)?

Sorry if these are newb questions, I ain't a mechanic--changing the oil is pretty much the only thing I'm usually willing to do. I don't really want to start removing things that I do not know how to place back...from the looks of it, there's a shield for the rotor (?) and the rotor itself (?) and caliper that I need to remove? Is there a diagram? Or should I just bring it in to a tire shop?

I'm planning on buying new, bigger tires (very) soon, should I just wait and have it all fixed in one swoop? (that's prolly another thread)

Tried searching...no lug stud references.

Yeah dont do what i do and just presume its a left hand threaded stud like my last car, drill it, put a bolt extractor in it, snap it trying to extract it and cut your palm to shreds!!! :D

Hit it with a hammer and it drops out the back :rollb2:
