Hey,
I am sure I have come to the right place for answers. I am looking at a '99 with just shy of 59,000 miles on it. Second owner car.
This will NOT be a daily driver but more for fun with my kid. Lot's of offroading in the future.
For the offroaders, anything specific to look for?
For the normal stuff...anything that one should pay particular attention too?
Thanks in advance. If I buy, I will post some pics.

For + and - all the usual rules for a used car apply. The mileage looks great. Have your kid show you how to use the Search function on the tool bar right under the VX drawing as their is far too much too list and it has all been documented and stored by Moncha. (He who must not be offended)
In my opinion I would first look at any mods and how they were done. Owners run the gamut from talented to more heart than skills and these are the types of things that can affect the performance. Also the type of 4 wheeling affects what you want.

Is the vehicle stock or already modded for offroading?
The mileage is good, so if the VX is in good shape and the price is right, I would say go for it! Just keep in mind you are buying a 10 year old SUV so regardless of the mileage you may need to dump some money into it maintenance wise (brakes, tires, tune-up, etc).
Do a search for "window issues" and "oil burning" and you should find some threads about the common problems with the VehiCROSS, but don't let any of that scare you. If properly cared for, this is one wicked ride and you will not regret it!
A mild lift for off-roading is very easy and cheap, and it will enhance the look and feel of the VX quite a bit. If you plan to lift more than 2"-3"s then you will encounter more complexities/problems related to the IFS. I have a 2" lift with the OME 912 springs and about another inch from the bigger tires and I am good to go!
Good luck,
Bart

know that 99 have 16" stock rims, and 00/01 have 18" stock rims
Looking here would be a place to start...:smilewink
That'll answer some of the Q's you might have.

Hey "Pavehawkgunner", I love the name, do the above searches and you should have your answers. If not, ask away. From your name I'd say you'll fit in nicely here so get the VX.
