Where...Arizona, in particular the chosen voyage will depart from Mammoth and dock in Wilcox.
When....December 5 and 6 2009
What...A wheeling trip through the Rug Road trail. Lots of history along the way...old mine and native ruins. Very scenic desert/mountain area. Saturday night camping at Turkey Creek. Sunday we cruise through Klondike by way of Aravipai Canyon and then to Wilcox. (from there its onto I-10 for easy access home).
Who....ALL VXer's and there friends (don't need to be a VXer...toys, zukes and even jeepers).

Family atmosphere and lots of fun.
I did this trail last year and a stock VX should not have any problems although offroad tires are probably a good idea. The trail is rough and slow going but not overly difficult. The first day is a full day jaunt with several stops to view.

Meet place and time will be added soon!

Maybe you can talk work into a "busimess trip"! Would be cool if you could make it.
(I am looking at options further north in Arizona for next year):bwgy:

Yeah, I wish. I cover Vegas, but all travel is restricted right now anyhow. And they would fly me, and that wouldn't be fun.

Yep, same event...different trail.
Had to do early Dec. this year since my Ironman is in late Nov. and keeping me mucho busy until then. Plus it will be a little cooler then.

If there is anyone who wants to spend a little more time in the area let me know. I can suggest some local attractions or possibly run a shorter local trail the following day.

I have no off road lights...winter days are short, trail is loooooooonnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg, and its much easier to set up camp when there is light. Plus I get cranky when I get hungry and I plan on grilling some nice steaks!:bwgy:

see, thats why you need young strappin guys like me around with rediculous amounts of lights on their car.
thats why you set up camp in the morning before you go wheeling... sheesh...

that way you light up the grill when you get back and cook up some delicious steaks or whatever floats your boat.

6 of 1... half a dozen of the other i suppose....

although your way is probably safer (to wheel during the day)

Ah, everyones invited...fill up the tank and hit the road! To set up camp first, I would first have to drive 3 hours from Tucson to the camp site, set up camp them drive the 3 hours back to Tucson so that I could drive the hour and a half the other direction to get to where the trail starts...not so practical!:bwgy: Us strapin old guys got the wisdom! :)

hmm... good point. either wisdom or stupidity for not picking a trail that ends near where it starts so you can set up camp early ;) (i guess thats the eagle scout in me, set up camp before the fun starts)

haha, ok im done harassing you buddy. sorry for the TJ

4 days to go

Spent the day doing a little maintanence before the trip. Replaced some broken wheel studs, slapped a little grease on the bearings while I was in there, replaced the bands on my CV boots (since they never stayed right in the groove) and tomorrow I shall change the oil and filter.:bwgy:
Ready to roll!
