I saw it as well and yes it certainly is a sad depressing movie. I had heard from several reviews that it was not for children, but that message didn't seem to make it out to the masses. I had to see this movie as this is my all time favorite book. I was expecting it to suck, but was OK with the movie, it was just not how I interpreted the story my whole life. O well

Don't be such a wuss. I'm taking my toddlers to see it tomorrow as part of a double feature with "The Exorcist". Should be a good time for all.

I've had this oil painting in my bedroom for many years.

My favorite book growing up. I refuse to see the movie, I'm sure they've ruined it.

I love the film - partially because it was very dark (the story if you go back and read it WAS intentionally very dark - in fact Sendak had a hard time getting it published due to just that opinion). I also didn't think the moview was very kid friendly - funny as I saw it in a matinee full of kids. If you're a fan of the book I think you'll like the movie - it's very beautifully done.

That is an awesome painting!

I heard that the author worked closely with the director so perhaps you will still enjoy it.

I liked it quite a bit. I read the book when I was a kid but I don't remember it to well. The film was very good however.

I think it is wonderful that it is a kids movie. Why? Because the "Disney Channel" is not what real life is for a lot of kids, most kids I think. This film was not afraid to show a kid with some real feelings of anger and frustration. His desire/need to destroy was one of the key points I think. Most people think kids movies should be sugar coated, but in reality, nothing is sugar coated.

I didn't think it was as heart wrenching as a lot of people did, but I did find it good.

I dunno John, I think you might enjoy it. This isn't a typical Hollywood movie by any means.
