I'm not complaining, since I choose to live here, but DANG...that's a cold bugger out there tonight!

On the plus side, Suzy cranks over & lights right up, like she can't hardly wait to go tearing around in this uber icebox I live in...:thumbup:

Took a cup of steaming hot water from the coffee machine outside & made my own personal ice cloud...:thumbup: VERY little water hit the ground.

Winter has hit here in Orlando too. High around 50 today with a low near freezing tonight and a few nights this week. Don't think i can make any ice clouds tho. I'd try it if T4B was standing around close by...lol...j/k, bet there'd be more than water hit the ground, would be worth it tho.
Did get to enjoy a white Christmas in Okla this year (100 miles North of Scott Harness) woulda loved to have the VX in the snow...don't think hardly any vehicles moved for 2 days. It's funny, they don't have the equipment to handle even a light freeze and people don't have a clue of how to drive.
To live in an area that gets to -33 by choice, only confirms what some suspect of you Ldub....there's a VX'r in Austin Texas (can't think of her name) but she has a name more appropriate to you..or a portion of her name....
One time when i lived in Lubbock Tx...it got really cold like that..I was out walking around and found this very unusual clear blue thing laying in the snow (about the size of you fist). I took it in and set it on the table, it thawed and went (insert the sound of passing gas here). That's just way too cold.

im comfortable in my regular shorts and a t-shirt up until about 10 degree's then i have to get the pants out.

it works the same way in reverse billy, your acclimated to the warm, im acclimated to the cold.

Had a '77 Celica, hood opened from the windshield side, & had to shoot ether into the carb each morning to get it started to get to college. One morning during "finals week" doing that when it was like -19, one of the hood hinges just broke off...frozen metal just sheared off...so just closed it up, drove on as I had to take those finals. Luckily the hood closed the way it did so it couldn't fly up while driving. Brrrrrr!

Another morning that week, the door wouldn't latch after I got in, the latchy thing was frozen and wouldn't engage. Had to crank the heat to high, drive around a parking lot hanging onto the door handle until the cabin warmed the door enough to latch....Brrrrrr!...:rollo2:

OK, definitely confirmed my decision to move to Calif after graduation!

x2. I much prefer cooler over hotter. However, since I moved out west, I have a whole new appreciation for the summer. Ideal temps to me are 45-65F. But here where its dry, I can even deal with temps up to 85 and still be ok.

But lived in south Florida for 7 years, and to this day I don't understand how ANYONE could consider the weather there "pleasant" outside of maybe a month a year. Humidity is NOT my friend.

I will say this, however: Around age 30 my metabolism just about bottomed out (at least it feels that way) and I notice now that I get cold sometimes whereas 5 years ago, I would have to be wet and naked outside in the middle of winter to get a chill. So, enjoy it while you can, Jack.

OK my mini me LDub actually changed the oil on the dune buggy yesterday (to Amsoil 4 stroke) ....removed the seats and back panel to find the oil dipstick :_wtf:...so his brilliant wife came inside and ordered a "dipstick relocation kit" for $20 under retail by making a low offer on one on ebay....I'm tellin' ya he's turnin' into a mini wrench! You do actually get used to it...the coldest I have ever cross-country skied in was -30F, up on the Gunflint Trail in NE Minnesota, near Canada. No wind, so it wasn't bad at all. We had been skiing in -10F weather all week, so we were acclimatized to it.

I have a heater on my Dragon. jemorga put it on and has one on his Proton as well.

There are different types. The one I have attaches to the bottom of the oil pan with adhesive (no problems so far). The plug is run along the pan and then to the front cladding. A small hole in the cladding open area (where rowhards openings in the skid plate are) and a zip tie hold the plug in place and make it easy to find when pluggin' in for the night. It is not noticeble during the day. Doesn't require a lot of juice and it just keeps the oil warm, not operating temperature. I notice that the heater warms up about 10 minutes faster using it.

jemorga put one on his wife's Prius Hybrid but it does not help any since the car starts our the day with the electric side...:)

cold hasn't been an issue here but we got alot of that white stuff. I lucked out and only got 1.5 feet @ my lair but just up the road they got 2 feet and over to the next town (edinboro, pa) they got 4 feet!

My VX just set a personal record today in that as I started to fill her up a Jeep Cherrokee pulls up & the driver asks the usual line of questions about the VX and then he leaves and as I'm putting the cap back on and shutting the fuel door a Jeep Wrangler pulls up & starts the process all over again.....LOL.

I need to start posting the times of my fuel visits and grouping all of the public together so that I can answer all their questions @ the same time.....LOL. Oh yeah, and I suppose I'll have to bite the bullet & hire a press agent as well!

I just noticed it's now colder in PA than it is in Fargo. Won't last long. Should be above freezing with some actual real sunshine on Thursday. Bummer, I'm hiking in the Catskill Mountains that day and I'd rather temps no higher than 20 so I don't sweat so much on the uphill death march. I guess I'll just dress lite.

Well, I got in a great hike today in the Catskills. I chose Giant Ledge and Panther Mountain. I was only up there once before in the summer. It's a nice 6.6 mile round-trip, not too hard, but I still feel it at the end of the day. It was a spectacular, clear, dead calm day. I barebooted the first 0.75 miles and then had to go with snowshoes the rest of the day. I finished in 5:29 with a total ascent of 1952'. 1:49 ascending, 1:17 descending, and 2:23 on flat terrain or stopped. I took 115 photos (30 MB).
As usual on the weekdays, I didn't see another hiker. :yesy:

No, I'm not retired, I work full-time, kinda. I work three days a week, twelve hours a day, Sat, Sun, and Mon. That gives me four days off every week to have fun outdoors when most others are working. I love it! :yesy:

That's how I racked up 210K miles on my VX. ~6k to work and ~15K to play each year. :)

I work 46 weeks and 138 days a year. I have six paid weekends off a year. Many folks work ~245 days a year. I'm very well paid and have fantastic benefits. If I had to go somewhere else and do the same job, I'd start out at about 60% of my current pay.

I'm livin' the dream. So who is this fantastic employer that I work for? The greatest employer in the world, the largest private employer in the world with over 2,000,000 associates, the largest retailer in the world.

Yeah, Walmart Stores Inc. No, I'm not a greeter that you see at the stores, although that seems like a pretty sweet job. :bwgy:

I work at one of the huge distribution warehouses that feed the stores. It's an amazing 1.2 million square foot marvel of engineering. You wouldn't believe what goes on in these warehouses. The volume of goods, the speed at which it moves, and the overall efficiency is mind boggling. Millions of cartons come in and go out every week. We serve over 90 stores. Imagine how much stuff that many stores sell every day. It is truly a jaw-dropping operation.

I drive a high-lift fork truck that goes up ~30 feet and weighs over 10,000 pounds. I have to concentrate and have excellent vision and hand-eye skills to put 3,000 pound pallets up and take them down from those heights without dropping and damaging thousands of dollars of merchandise, or getting someone killed.

This is the actual building I work in. About 800 people work there.

My brother works at a Lowes distribution center in North Carolina doing very similar work (plus I think he was doing the weekend work thing for awhile too). Apparently they have some ridiculous QC process in place that's constantly getting somebody fired, so he's not too thrilled with them right now. But they do pay pretty well and offer a profit-sharing program, so it's a good deal.
