Ok ive been wondering what these hoses do
theres 3 of them, 1 with a cap type thing maybe its a filter of some sort? and 2 others which have open ends.
this also this diagram in my vx which shows you them
but what im wondering what actualy are they for/ do ?
There normaly zip tied into the bracket but ive undone them just for the photo.
I did a search but havent found anything.
Ive uploaded the pic of the diagram in a big size so its viewable without hurting your eyes

Please post a pic of the same area, taken from further away, so I can get a better idea of the layout/where things are...:thanx:
Also, remove the plastic engine cover, for a more detailed look.

On mine, I only see one hose. It is tied to the reservoir bracket, right behind the air cleaner and is, indeed, left open to atmosphere. I don't have that cap thing (Which I assume is a check-valve), or the second hose.
Still, I'm willing to take a guess: I suspect that is part of the evap system. When the engine is warm and under power, a solenoid opens up that sucks air across the charcoal canister and burns off leftover fuel. Most of that stuff is located on the bottom of the engine, if I understand the diagrams right. So, they'd want to run a vent hose up higher, so they don't end up sucking in water or something.
When it isn't midnight and freezing, I'll take a closer look for you.

I think you maybe onto something
Ldub, its rightbehind the airbox, near the power steering fluid.
Just 3 hoses stuck together.
Ill get some more pics 2mrw

Larry, you might have to stand on your head to get it all in perspective.
Just hang the gorilla feet from the bonnet.
Sprey has the strg wheel on the right side of the car (vs you guys on the wrong side of the car:bgwb::smilewink).
Brake booster, master cyl etc. are all where you have the ABS unit.
Connections on the engine should all end up the same, but they hoses would be routed differently under the hood.

Haha soo true!
Pk wonder if yours has the random hoses that are zip tied to the power steering container?
Since yours is a Jdm vx too.

Exactly...:yesgray:
That's why I wanted a different perspective, to maybe see where they're coming from/going to.
Which is what I would be doing if I was there, "hands on"...trace em' back to their origin.
I know that the vent hose from the front diff ends up near that area on mine...:_thinking
Hanging from me gorillyish type feets might be a bad idear...I'd prolly pass out & hit me head on something hard...:confusedw

L0L...if it's all the same to you, I'm just gonna hold off on snoopin' around under the bonnet till it gets to at LEAST above zero around here...think mid-late April...:smilewink

Nah its summer here lol.
Tho even when we get winter it doesnt snow. Just windy-rain-crap weather etc
Anyway more pics!!
This first one leads off the intake into a Y pipe, as you can see part of it comes off the top of the intake and part of just next to the fuel pressure regulator. and the long piece plastic wrapped leads into the group of hoses in my next pic, Its routed behind the window washer fluid.
http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk404/sprey16/IMG_1508.jpg
Here its coming down into the group
http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk404/sprey16/IMG_1500.jpg
The group of hoses all tied together leading down into a tube that holds on the hoses ( cant think of the proper name :P)
http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk404/sprey16/IMG_1509.jpg
Following the tube it goes down behind the airbox infront of the engine Leftside of the car by the airbox.
http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk404/sprey16/IMG_1511.jpg
It then heads down into the front diff.
http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk404/sprey16/IMG_1512.jpg
Its really hard to get a pic of where the hoses go, it looks like 2 of the hoses mount into the front diff?
hard to get a pic.
http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk404/sprey16/IMG_1516.jpg
and one of them goes down the inside of the chassis rail
like this
http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk404/sprey16/IMG_1520.jpg
Then finaly into this odd looking thing?
http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk404/sprey16/IMG_1519.jpg
While i was under the vx i had a look at the rear diff and ontop of it i can see a hose going up behind the fuel tank into this. Which imo would be the vent for the diff?
http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk404/sprey16/IMG_1521.jpg
Please say if any more pics are needed of certain parts.
All im tryna do is fully workout what the 3 hoses are for, etc if oneday if i went out 4x4ing and somehow got water down one.
Thanks
Aaron :D
I seem to remember reading somewhere that some part of the 4-lo/TOD/2-hi T-case option that JDM VX's, & US spec Troopers have, is vacuum controlled.
I think your best help is going to come from one of your JDM siblings, who is more familiar with it than I am...:yesgray:
And yes, that btm pic is most definitely the rear diff breather.

Yeap ty Ldub :p. Ty for confirming the rear breather, just as i thought.
Come on other Jdm vx owners ? lol
They must be there for a reason, the zip tie is like a factory one as you can undo it using your finger not a screw driver to pry up the tab etc.
