the wheels are Granite Alloy GA5's in 18x8.5 w/ a 0 offset.. they have Falken S/TZ04 tires in 285/60/18H (quite a bit of trimming needed to be done since in still stock height)
fog lights were 20 bucks at autozone that i got to fit with the how two by johnny apollo.. they give off a yellowy white light.. probably about 4500-5000 degees... my HIDs are 6000 though, so i did order some LEDs to replace the bulbs so that they match better
the push button ignition has not arrived yet, but was ordered online... will update when it arrives and is installed

How far past the wheel wells do your tires sit now with the 0 offset wheels?

I've got +6 on my 2001 with 275/60/18's and they stick out 1.75" from the edge of the cladding to the edge of the tire.

Hmmmm. I was wondering if having tires that stick out past the wheel wells would pose a problem with PA inspection.
I see you still have Maryland plates so I guess it doesn't matter???:_confused

take it you haven't seen tom4bren's VX then !!!
In the UK you have to have the tyre covered by the wing, but strangely enough its from a birds eye view, so you'd need to add 'fender extensions' My 265 75 16 tyres are 'just' inline with the stock fenders.

The big question tho is do you measure how much of the tread protrudes or to the sidewall. Depending on the tire, there can be a significant difference.

im getting close!..
old monitor and head unit are out, i installed noise suppressors on both my constant power and switched power lines coming to the new unit, i just have to connect a couple more wires and install the new dvd unit
engine start button is here too, im debating on a place to install it, its just barely too big to fit next to the power/winter buttons, so my choices now are.. fiberglass the bottom DIN slot on the dashboard and install a couple 12v outlets there and put the engine start button in the stock 12v outlet area, or put the push button igniton just below the ignition on the lower part of the drivers dash, there is a nice flat area there too..... decisions decisions..

Think you could put it where the lighter plug is now? If you don't smoke and you're planning on relocating 12v outlets to the bottom DIN anyway, it seems like a good choice (if you can put a nice bracket around it).

I was getting my DD inspected on Friday so I took the opportunity to ask the guy what the rules are on tire protrusion. This is for Virginia so you'll hafta check your local juristiction for any clarifications. In VA, the tires can protrude from the fenders 4". That is measured from the most outboard feature of the fender to the most outboard tread feature. So the bottom line is that I am currently leagal (barely) but if I go to a more agressive tread or something with side-biters, I may not be. Fender flares or mudflaps are legal ways of getting around this restriction. Some localities may also allow you to add an amber light above each fender and be legal as well. Now for the caution: What's legal at the inspection station may not be legal in the eyes of your State Police ... and he's packing ... and he's on the same team as the judge. If he tickets you ... guess who wins.
BTW Eric. It looks great - very professional.

ohhhh goodness! i cant believe i left my wire hanging for all to see! :embarasse
thats the video bypass to allow the display to work while driving, i use it because my phone connects to the AV input so i can see google maps, my texts and incoming calls without having to look down at my phone... i still cant find a switch i deem acceptable to put there

Now that sounds like a plan! "Electrical crap" is my arch nemesis, we'll have to plan something this summer once I figure out the design.

push button ignition is up and running! the switch i bought was kinda crappy and the relay blew out after 1 start.. the leds in the switch went out too.... had to hotwire the vx to get to the store for a new relay.. would have been really bad if i got pulled over since ignition wires were just twisted together and ignition column was exposed
anyway it works well now and is good fun
anyone looking to do it in an 01 the ig wire is black/red and the st wire is black/white

DADGUMMIT etl! I've been debating this little "mod" for some time, and now that I see it done I want to do it even more. Looks like I'm off to buy some LED bulbs.
Looks good , but I'm with T4B; gotta find a way to change the tach and speedo color.
etlsport
04/13/2010, 12:49 PM
its super easy to do the LED conversion the way i did it
went on autolumination.com and superbrightleds.com
the bulbs you will need
(4) 194 bulbs for behind gauge cluster (blue does not work well, doesnt light up the speedo/tach well, green was OK, white was best for me)
(4) 10mm base Neo wedge bulbs (i would suggest getting two colored glass bulbs and 2 led bulbs, the bulbs that light the airflow positions are inconsistent with LED lighting because of how they are designed
(1) Red 8mm base neo-wedge bulb for hazard warning light
(2) 8mm base neo-wedge bulbs for illumination of "on" indicators for mirror and rear defrosters
(3) 8mm base neo-wedge bulbs for illuminating cruise control, heated mirror and rear defroster symbols
the ones i ordered from superbrightleds.com worked well but were a VERY tight fit, so if you put em in backwards theyre a pain in the rear to get back out to flip
i also got a single 74 bulb to light up the ash tray when pulled out, make sure you get something that a. fits through the hole and b. has side facing LEDs, otherwise it wont light anything
