My street still hasn't been plowed yet. I figured this would be a good test for the Goodyear Duratracs. Took it for a short drive up the hill. I was the only person on my block who could get anywhere.

Nice pix!!! I remember when you recently purchased your G/Y DuraTrac's as described on a different thread. I'm sure the DuraTrac's dig like crazy in the snow with its aggressive tread and SFM rating. It's no surprise that you were the only one getting around. Well done, my friend. BTW-- cute little girl. Again, thanx for sharing your pix.:bgwb:

What I wouldn't give for a foot of snow right now....:( Instead I have to deal with this 60 degree weather with all the clouds and whatnot.

22 inches here in south park.
No power since 10 Friday night. House is down to 43 and the contents of the freezer are sitting on the front porch.
Already drained the pipes as they say no power tonight either.
gonna be a long day. Yesterday wasnt bad cause I occupied myself with snow shoveling. No hope or that today.

WOW. Did you get power back during the day today? Wait a sec... if you don't have power will you even see this question? Hope things are going okay and one of these finds you... :_snowplow
Best of luck!
Hang in there all you snowbound VX'rs...
Hope y'all get powered up & dug out soon.
I'd come up there with my VX shovel to help out, but I'm a little busy what with work & all...:rolleyesg

Power is still out. Spending time in the company car with the laptop plugged into the cigarette adapter. Spent last night at a hotel because if the hose loses its 10 degrees a night, it should be freezing, literally, when I get back there this morning.
I keep calling to see if the answering machine picks up, but no such luck yet. I have little hopes for power today and more snow comes tomorrow.
Allegheny power sent all their trucks to Maryland and Virginia to help there prior to the storm thinking that is where the damage was going to be. HA, they left us completely uncovered and now I am on hour 61 of no power.

We got somewhere around 2 feet - hard to tell since we had a bout of sleet on Friday night so a lot of it got packed down. We never did lose power & got dug out yesterday. I did get out on the roads with the VX a little last night. It did great but that (&*)(*^& TOD lite keeps coming back on.

Wohoo, power came back on, 66 hours later. I drove around a bit today and saw 4 power trucks nearby, accompanied by a couple tree trimming trucks. One thing is for sure, a generator is on the list of must buys this year.
Now, to get the house warm.

Over the last few weeks, I'm getting my first experience at driving the VX in the snow. Yesterday I was driving through 4 or 5 inches. I have the 33 inch mud tires on mine. It felt like it wanted to spin around on me. Not so much when I'm accelerating, but just driving along. I don't know if it was just the ruts in the snow making my tires follow them or if I was actually sliding a bit.
I was able to hit the gas and pull straight at any time, I was just a little nervous driving faster than 15 or 20 though.
Is that normal? Is 15 to 20 the speed I should be trecking through 4 inches of snow anyways?
I'm kinda new to this. We have been getting more snow here in my area this year than any other time since I was a kid.

I think your VX was 'searching' for the ruts. Mine does it too since my stance is significantly wider than a normal car, I don't match the ruts. If you take it out in virgin snow, I doubt you'll notice it.

im with tom on that.. i plowed through 18" or so of snow no problem at all for a few miles until i got to civilization, once there, i was on maybe 5-6 inches and was okay.. once i got to main roads where there was a 1-2 inches packed down, the VX was a little squirrly at times, once even got to maybe a 15º angle on me, but always a touch of gas and a very slight steering correction and she was straight as an arrow

...since my stance is significantly wider than a normal car..NO! Really? ....Guess it depends on what the definition of "normal" is....http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/rolleye/rolleye0009.gif (http://www.mysmiley.net/free-evilgrin-smileys.php) http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/rolleye/rolleye0013.gif (http://www.mysmiley.net/free-fighting-smileys.php)

Thanks. That makes me feel a little better. It can get a bit un-nerving with such a short wheelbase when you feel the back side switching a little bit.
I never thought I was about to lose it, but did wonder how far it would go. Acceleration was never a problem though. That TOD is sweet!

we have the EXACT opposite thing going on around here...
colorado is drying up. everyone here is freakin out a little because we arent gonna have any water this year to feed all the other states for crops and whatnot.
the 'ski' mountains are also really hurting because no one is riding them due to the lack of base snow. (around 40 inches for most mountains right now, average this time of year is 120 inches)

I finished out the first snow with 36" and 20" during the second. 56" in 4 days north of DC. This place came to a STANDSTILL. Needless to say, the STi was in the garage since last Friday and only came out this morning. The VX on the other hand.... has been EVERYWHERE. ;)
