Apparently Nissan is starting to bring its concept cars to production. First the Cube, now the 2011 Nissan Juke (or Qazana). Its a wierd looking crossover that doesn't go offroad and has a tiny engine but its nice to see an automaker taking their prototypes to production.

If they crossed the Juke with the Xterra, would we have the next Vehicross?

Too bad the production vehicle won't be as edgy as the concept

decent modern designs with motorcycle engines. Even the Xtera is underpowered that is the main flaw in asian vehicles

Nope, don't like it because it's got 4-doors!!! Give me a 2-door Coupe or be gone with 'ya.

We'd be opting for gas mileage if we were paying well over $4 per gallon too...:bwgy::smilewink:bgwo::bgwb:

Looks like someone in Russia had the same thought (at least from what I can tell - the translation is a bit broken):

Here is the website quote:

"NISSAN
Juke will be an excellent alternative to a sports hatchback. The third and smallest crossover in the Nissan model range will go on sale first in Japan in September - in Europe and then reach the United States. Isuzu Vehicross. The model differs fashionable, sophisticated design and has a chance to become one of the most talked about cars of recent years - not by chance on the creation Juke labored designers had a hand in creating Isuzu Vehicross."

Its possible the designer is the same considering previous Nissan models and the Vehicross had the same designer. At least thats what I saw in the VX history on youtube.

I'm waiting for a nice/cool looking 4x4 that is trail ready AND utilizes some sort of modern fuel saving technology.

I generally approve of most Nissan designs, this one included, however if it is only useful to get groceries, I'll pass...

For all the recent negative commentary from the likes of Cars.com and Car and Driver about the VX, it's nice to see Nissan revisit the VX design concept again. It proves a classic is always a classic. (I first saw this Nissan concept car raved about in Top Gear Magazine about six months ago.)

I sAw one of these up close today at a stop light. It was odd, Not odd looking, but odd, like a brother you never met!?! We two drivers were looking at each others trucks, the light turned green, the other driver waved, and it was gone.
By no means is it a vx, but it is enough of an edgy design risk that I think I liked it a little!

I don't see the VX lines in the Juke. It's a 4-dr, the roof tapers off too much and it really looks more like a compact hatchback. By contrast, the VX never pretended to be a hatchback.

The Cube is just the dumbest-looking asymmetrical disaster I ever saw. While I understand there might be an eclectic (or two) owner of the VX line, that's the ONLY type of person I can see WANTING a Cube. Between the Cube and the Honda Element. those two cars cornered the market on fugly breadboxes on wheels.

I don't know that I sAw lines either, but something was there......
And yes, I agree wholeheartedly that the cube makes no sense....at all!

The Nissan Juke is vying for two names: The "Joke" or the "Puke" (either fits perfectly).:rotate:

Dont like the front end but with a turbo I will just have to live with it. Small though.

I don't think ANY car is perfect and when buying one the potential owner has to figure out which car is the most perfect for them. I went and seen a Juke recently and thought it was well put together. The rear doors are fairly hidden and I didn't know it was 4 door until I looked at it. headlights are a bit wierd, but have you tried to look out the rear window via the rear view mirror in our VX's??

Overall I think it's pretty slick, inside and out.

Yup, I saw one the other day as well. Again, not a VX, but I did like it. Its odd looking and funky and it has a nice posture. I won't be buying one any time soon, but I can tell by looking at it that it has that "not for everyone" feel to it.

You can order one now too. They are apparently building them "per order". You can imagine the pricetag. Higher than your normal GTR. IMHO, it's still the same ugly little car, just has bigger balls.

No thanks.

They really should do a performance shoot-out between a Juke GTR and a Ferrari/Porsche/Corvette. With the same drivetrain but less weight you have to think this thing would be insanely fast.

Shiro Nakamura was the chief designer for Isuzu when he created the Vehicross. After is stint with Isuzu, he moved on to Nissan and designed the FX-45, and his latest creation, is the Juke.

I didn't know this until after I bought the Juke. It's a Turbo crossover that I average 26 MPG. Not bad at all, considering the same commute with the VX is 13 MPG.

So there you have it folks. The Juke is the the VX's ugly little brother.

I guess I'm just attracted to ugly.
