Found a deal on a 4 square trailer that I couldn't resist...:rolleyesg

And since I've been thinking that putting 26-2700 less miles per year on expen$ive off-road rubber couldn't be a bad thing...:smilewink
(Hey, I can rationalize shop with the best of em)

I decided to start another project...:yesgray:

I was thinking a row of LED's that are tied into the brake light circuit would look good in the indent.
And the TSC badge gotta go...;puke:
That'll no doubt be replaced with...oh, I dunno....maybe something with a Skull & some bones?...:_thinking
Anyway, here are some WIP pics...

Insert two cents:

Nice, but I think I would be a little concerned about the weight hanging over the back edge but you know what your doing and what you'll be carrying.

Good point John, but to counter balance whatever is in the box, (alum floor jack, alum jack stands, oil, nutz-N-boltz, extra shocks, tie rods, etc) I have a set of of 35" tires on 20" wheels that tips the scales @ 400+ lb...:naughty:
They sit four wide across the front.

And to say the box is overkill mounted to the floor of the trailer would be a blasphemous understatement...:smilewink

It'll be about like this, only gnarlier, when done...

Sooooo, how long before it gets a lift and a couple of those 35's end up on the ends of the trailers axles? Also a matching paint job...silver with flat black fenders!:bwgy:

Oh yea....needs more cowbell!

Good point(s) Guys...

I was thinking a long arm four link with coilovers & 33's might be sufficient...hmmmmmm...maybe I just found a use for my almost bald Mud Grapplers.:smilewink
Of course I'd need to fab up some wider fenders...:naughty:

Cow Bell?...look real close when you get to Moab...:naughty:

Still haven't quite decided for sure, but...:naughty:

I'm thinkin the trailer needs a little sumpin-sumpin to set it apart from the herd...:yesgray:
I be leaning toward the top one in the pic...:smilewink

What Y'all think... or ;puke:

Does the downforce give you better traction?

Added bonus is you can use the wing for a lunch table on the trail.:bgwb:

Dub, that thing is awesome, shame the cost you got it for is gonna go out of the water when you put 20" rims and mud tyres on it to match the VX, lol !

Dub...for a wing why don't ya find someone parting out a VX, get the factory wing, trim a bit out of the center to make it fit the pit (a little dr. suesse for ya):naughty:

L0L...what a funny bunch of friends I have...

No downforce Jay, I thought I might tilt the wing the other way, so the trailer "flies" down the road, thereby decreasing drag & increasing mileage...:yesgray: (not to mention the dread "unsprung weight"...:rolleyesg)
And NO, it's not gonna see any trail time, but might make a nifty bar back at the stoop...:naughty:

That VX spoiler isn't a bad idea, just way more than I'm willing to spend.

I went into O'Reily auto parts today & asker if they had any "extremely ricey" wings/spoilers on hand. When I told the guy what it was for, he got a pretty good laugh, but said they don't deal in stuff like that...:rolleyesg

Being the redneck inventor/shade tree mechanic that I am, I'll prolly end up with something like this...

Looking good Dub. Should we all bring our favorite skully sticker to Moab to add to your collection on the inside of the lid?

BTW, I like the idea of a strip of LED's in the trailer recess. Maybe get one of the ones that fits between the bumper and the tailgate on a pickup so you'll have brake lights and turn signals all in one.

Oh, and how about one of these instead of the wing on top?

Too deep for my coin purse...

I talked with the counter dude @ Advanced Auto today, & he called a friend who supposedly has a used "ricer wing" for $ 40.00.

I'm gonna go give it a look this afternoon.

Also, I like the pickup truck LED idea...

Looking good Larry.

At the risk of preaching to the converted - 2 observations -

Make sure your wing doesn't hit your rack of tyres when you have to open the box up.

That thing is going to be a PITA to reverse - short drawbar and poor visibility.

Looking good though.:thumbup::thumbup:

Done & DONE!

The wing will be in no danger of making contact, & I've got a fiberglass mast that I'm gonna mount, centered on the front of the box, so I can see whats goin' on back there...:yesgray:

Towing it home was a rather odd sensation, no discernable (sp?) towing resistance, coupled with not being able to see it in any mirror until I turned a 90 deg corner...:uhohgray:

Thanks for the good advice & comments Mr. K...:yesgray:

As an afterthought...:rolleyesg

The downside of this "bargain" ricer wing is...I paid more for the new S-S hardware to mount it with, than I paid for the wing...:upsetgray...:_confused

Except for filling it with stuph, this'll pretty much be the finished product before Moab this year.:smack:
