Sounds fuel related to me.

I'd start at the back & work my way forward...

Fuel filter
Fuel pressure regulator
Idle air control valve

Other possible culprits:

MAF
TPS

Use the search function, with any of the above as search criteria to find out lots more...:yesgray:

You should be able to download a PDF of the VX shop manual on this site, that will help.

On US VXes, Fuel Filter is on the passenger side (so driver's side for you) about 2/3rds of the way back up along the frame rail. Looks like a small soup can. Should be easy to locate. There are threads on here about changing it yourself as well. It's quite easy.

Fuel Pressure Regulator for us is behind the motor against the firewall. Annoying little bugger to get at but it is doable in your garage as well. Several threads on here about it as well.

Good luck!

I'll have to 2nd LDub on this one. Try the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) next. There should be a thread on cleaning it.

But then I read post #2 here:

http://www.vehicross.info/forums/showthread.php?t=4582&highlight=throttle+position+sensor

Use the search function on "Throttle Position Sensor". Lotsa good reading.

hi all changed all the things people have suggested but still no luck , before this happened i could drive the car but when it got to 250 revs it would cut out until revs dropped then start up again . do u think this could be a gasket problem although i had most of them replaced two years ago

Really sounds fuel related to me - have you changed the fuel filter yet??
That is the most likely cause from your description.

Maybe the rev limiter has gone T-U?...:_confused

Chez, can you get the diagnostic error codes checked? A garage should be able to tell you if any codes are present and will help you to sort the problem. An alternative is to buy a Scangauge.

No CEL at all but cuts out with some gas.... hmmm....

You know, mine did that for a while after sitting before. Had to jump it go get it out of my garage. Once started it idled fine, but given gas, it would stall. Strangely enough, it was "somehow" due to the low battery charge. Go figure. New battery and it was fine afterward. Makes little sense but it worked in my particular case.

Check all of your wiring harnesses. In particular, your IAC, MAF, MAS, and TPS. Look for any corrosion or dirt and/or loose connections (though I would expect a CEL if this were the case) in the sockets on those sensor plugs. Use a bit of Dielectric grease on them as well before reconnecting.

Drive some fresh hi octance and Sea Foam into your tank as well. GIve the injectors and fuel lines a solid run through.

Just some affordable ideas.

IAC = Idle Air Control

MAF & MAS = two different acronyms for Mass Air Flow Sensor

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor

Basically he's telling you to locate any connectors in the engine compartment that you can lay your hands on. Disconnect them, clean them, & treat them. It sounds kinda snarky but when you are chasing gremlins ... it often works.

Er, good catch. I meant to say MAP, Manifold Pressure Sensor. Another fuel related sensor. That is one often overlooked.

hi all i sorted the prob by disconnecting the neutral from the battery waited thirty seconds put it back on and it is now running again,very strange . i still have the issue with the clunking in gears which im fairly sure is the neutral switch , has any one got a picture of the switch in situ because im not sure mine is right it seems loose, and dont want to buy new one if its only a case that its loose
cheers chez
