Hi,
I got tired of my Vortex muffler being too loud, so I bought a Supertrapp muffler ($40 on CL) to replace the exhaust tip. I couldn't be happier!!!
Basically what it did was made the exhaust tone and low end torque tunable by adding or subtracting discs.
The Vortex's loudness was a 7 out of 10. By adding the Supertrapp with 12 discs, it dropped it to a 3. It's a tad too quiet, but a nice change (I think I'm getting old...).
It also raised the low end torque (butt-dyno). The thing drives like it's new again! And... so far the gas mileage is up too. I'll know later...
It looks very unique too... adds to the stealth/armored look :)

Sorry, been busy... I added pics to the first post (didn't know I could do that! LOL)
A few more days have gone by and still loving the results!
Fuel range should be in the 400's (projection from historical experience, based on current fuel gauge reading).
Also, the exhaust tone has changed from (explanation purposes only) Mustang to Ferrari. Hard to describe this.
I'm going to try an experiment. I want more sound... the only way to do this is to buy more discs. It opens up the exhaust more.
The experiment is to buy small, thin, washers to put on all six disc retaining bolts between each disc. This should simulate the addition of discs. If not, I'll buy the discs. $2 vs. $30...

Oh, also, just for reference... the Vortex is approx. equal to the sound of the 50 series Flowmaster.
So, in reality, what this did was...
Sound level:
Straight exhaust with no muffler=10
Vortex added=7
Vortex is now the baseline for the loudest the exhaust will go.
Added Supertrapp w/12 discs=3
Remove discs=7.5 (.5 due to megaphone-ish shape)
Add discs= 3 - 7.5, depending on how many discs added...
Hope this makes sense.

I was looking to only run the supertrapp by itself. I too do not like a loud exhaust, but thought the 5" x 17-1/2" with the discs would reduce noise to a respectable level, with a distinctive exhaust note. The muffler isn't available until the 10th of next month, so I have a bit of time to make a decision. I just purchased my ride which is presently supercharged single exhaust with a rotted out muffler. Am I kidding myself that noise levels will be within acceptable street levels? i don't want to get pulled over for noise violations. Why is it that cars, trucks and dirtbikes live by one standard, and Harley's have their own standard?

Supertrapp has many "divisions". The ATV market is one of them. They also do dirt bikes, Harleys, Jet Ski's, Hot Rod V8s, etc...
I used them on Porsches back in the 90's.
UPDATE:
Have had it on for about 2 tank-fulls now. 19 mpg every time. 410ish range.
Torque is GREAT from stop.
I wish more people lived near me and could judge for themselves. It may look... different... but it does a great job.
I couldn't decide on the Supertrapp or the Hushpower II when I upgraded. I went for the Hushpower because I was told the Supertrapp would be REALLY loud. I have seen the baffle kits you can add to a the exhaust tip so that may be an option for someone as well.
BTW, FYI, the guy that has been working on the incredible flying cars of the late '70's or '80's - the Skycar - he invented the Supertrapp muffler and sold the brand to pay for his Skycar work. I think he should have kept the Supertrapp! :)
I think I'll finally take the gamble and use a Supertrapp on my next "project"... thanks for the info!

Is it too much to ask for audio? Pref video with audio of yer pipes?
I love the look, fits the VX perfectly.

have you had any trouble with melting cladding back there? it looks like the exhaust comes out around the back of the supertrapp, pushing some of it upwards towards the cladding?
