Well guys, I was browsing craigslist for another Isuzu, was mainly looking for a Rodeo or possibly a 2nd gen trooper. While searching I stumbled upon an awesome deal on a sweet 99' Zu' that seemed a little too good to be true, well after sending a friend over to completely check it out, she's mine (well sorta, he's picking it up wednesday for me) I knew it wouldn't be long before I had another Isuzu haha

Overall it's in great shape, has 134K miles and this person is the 2nd owner, the original owner was an Isuzu mechanic he said and he bought it from him a year ago. The guy I am purchasing it from is in his mid 60's and is getting ready to have back surgery at the end of the week and just won't be able to drive it anymore, they are buying a Nissan Quest lol. How much would you have paid for this? The small dent, the bad clear in those two areas, the cracked console lid and a cracked armrest are the ONLY things my friend could find (and he's pretty picky) aside form 2 things I already knew before hand (the plastic clips on the window need fixed, easy, they roll up and down but sometimes need a little guidance, easy fix) and the ac clutch needs replaced (again, not a big deal). My friend drove it around for awhile today and spent a good hour or so just chit chatting with the guy about it, it's been stored inside since he's owned it, constant maintenance, it's parked in a nicely painted garage on car mats and his garage was immaculate so he seems to take good care of his stuff. I'm so excited to pick this thing up!!! Let me know what you think.

I was addicted to Zu's already and now stepped it up to the VX! My Rodeo was the gateway drug :)
Congrats - be prepared for cramp in the smiling muscles.
It will occur every time you drive it.
Are you sure "it" is a female??
Remember they are very hard to satisfy, and keep nagging about work required to be done.:p;):smilewink
If it is a female, there is only one name -
"Vixen":yesgray::yesy::yeso:

hhhmmm I like that, Vixen.......... All of my vehicles have been female and have been very faithful and good to me so I will stick them being female lol, don't wanna mess with a bad thing. Another cause of my cramping was the price, paid 4K, can't stop smiling about that lol

Wahoooooo! Congrats! Awesome price too! Love the wheels too!
Mark in Colorado (MSHardeman) calls his "Vickie", so Vixen sounds good for yours!
You were already so excited even before you found your girl, I can tell your smile is going to be rather permanent!

hehe yeah, it's gonna be stuck on my face for awhile. I have been casually keeping my eyes out for one even when I had my Rodeo, so it's nice to finally have one. I think Vixen is good, but it's not really a name per se, more of a title but still like it

I'm thinking of purchasing some OME 912's, t-bar crank and some 275/65-18 tires. From all the pictures and research I've done, I think this will give me a nice look and ride as well as offroad performance. I did the BJ flip on my 97' but I had the front cranked almost 4.5", do you think cranking the bars to match the 912's will call for a BJ flip? And how are the CV angles with this setup? I'll probably do diff drop brackets down the line when I have the front end torn apart for some stuff but are there any issues to not doing it with this setup? Any opinions would be great!

You should be fine with the T bar crank at about 3". The ball joint flip is a good idea to help out with alignment but not absolutely necessary. The diff drop is a crap shoot. Some get away without it ... some don't (don't know why). You'll know pretty quick after lifting by keeping an eye on your CV boots. I can help you out with the diff drops when you decide.
Grats.

haha I honestly didn't care about the color, I "liked" all the colors as long as it was a VX. My favorite color is this:

But they didn't make any with that color :) I do think a VX would look awesome painted that orange with rhinolined cladding though. And thanks Tom, I'll let you know when it comes to the diff drops. I WILL end up with them, just wasn't sure if anyone had issues running without them on the street (any binding or what not) after a lift. They will go on before I really test it offroad though.

Actually, there's been at least 2 painted burnt orange (not as bright as this)...and I think one Rhino-lined the cladding :_thinking Can't recall the 2nd one...

Ya but they didn't come that way darnit lol. I think I may do this as the clear coat is messed up on it. Take it down to my old shop and do it. That one looks pretty good, looked at the rest of the gallery. Here are a few more shots of the color in question (sunset orange metallic):

On another note, has anyone actually swapped t-cases on these trucks? I would think any 4L30E tcase from 98+ should swap in place of the TOD case or am I mistaken? I would think with that t-case, some manual hubs up front would allow full 2wd around town and you could get the lower gear sets. I've seen alot of questions but no one really seems to have an answer unless I missed it

Ya I'm calling my friend Rodney who owns the shop I used to work for back in Florida and gonna see if we can do it on a weekend or something here soon. I think it will look pretty sweet lol. How hard is it to line-x or rhino-line our cladding?

Mmmmmmm, Sunset Orange Metallic! :yeso: That came out the year after I bought my Navy Blue Metallic 1999 Firebird... I was very envious and so tempted to trade! I have no doubt it would look incredible on a VX.
(Great, now I got drool all over my keyboard.)

hehe I think it'll be amazing! I wanted to paint my 87' Iroc that color after I did an LS1/T56 swap into it but never got around to it before I sold the car.

Hey Ram- I think So-CalVX was asking how much for the step rails, not the VX itself.....but we understand....the VX euphoria can have that affect:p
And I like Venus! Great choice!

Here are some better pics from today. I'll get some good ones once I'm in town. I know I'm gonna lift it, but I really like the look it has right now. Drop the back end down a little and get some more power under the hood and it'd be awesome seeing it fly around the track!

That's what they look like to me, the only difference that might be throwing you off a little is that those aren't the stock centercaps that came with Borbet wheels.
If you need to take them off for any reason, the manufacturers' name should be cast into the aluminum on the back of each wheel somewhere. It should be noted that they may not say Borbet though. Borbet imported them for sale in the US back in the day, but the wheels were most likely manufactured somewhere in Europe by another company.
Knowing how the stock centercaps are held in place, the question I have is how are those being held in place? Were the wheels or the centercaps modified in some way, were those centercaps offered with some other Borbet wheel and they just happened to fit, or ?

I dunno, I'm gonna check the caps out once I get to town. The caps are throwing me off, but I kinda like em. I'll be checking for the manufacturer as well when I get there.
