My compressor is making a belt squeal on start up so I'm going to replace it.
I talked to Merlin and he said theirs is too much.
Looked on ebay and I can buy new one's all day long but they specify 1999 to 2000 (doesn't say 2001).
Is the 01 version different?

If you can't find a replacement compressor right away, you can go with a shorter belt and by-pass the compressor. I had to do this when mine seized up in Uwharrie. I don't remember a part number, but I do remember it was just about 5 inches shorter.
You probably don't want to go very long without AC in Houston though, huh?

I found 4 different places that said they had a used compressor off of an '01 VX, so unless johnny buys all 4 you should be able to get one too.
He can relay that info to you, or I will once he decides what he's doing.

From the link LDUB provided, it appears I would be best with a 2001 Trooper compressor.
Thanks for all the help, and I will post how it turns out.

Autozone is telling me their 2000 Trooper compressor is the same as the 2001 (which they cannot order), and they can get the 2000 model.
He did ask if it's two or four wheel drive? b/c it will use a different belt?
Any advice?
