I saw this topic on another forum and thought it would be fun.
Many of us wish we had kept our whatever to this day. Maybe it was your first car, or that special one that was such a joy to drive, or made you feel unique, or special, or proud, or all of the above. Whatever it WAS, post some pictures and others might identify with your experience, and enjoy hearing about it.

I Wish I Had Never Gotten Rid Of My old RX-7.
Found some old pictures the other day, I thought I'd share them.
I once had a first generation RX-7. I bought it brand new in 1980, sometime in 1984 i grew tired of the silver paint job. So one day I decided to repaint it myself in Porsche Red. A few years earlier I spent some time in Auto Body and Paint classes at the local community college working on another project. So I went back to school to work on this car. It took me 3 semesters to finish this one.
• Updated entire body to the newer second series body style 1981-83.
• Added newer style bumpers and tail lights. Had to weld and fabricate a filler panel into the old rear license plate hole and cut in new model tail lights.
• Added rear spoiler, not bolted on, it was blended into body with a frenched-in power antenna
• Added remote opening gas door
• Cut the interior to fit behind-the-seat storage boxes from a newer model RX-7.
• Front one piece bumper and spoiler
• Full lower Body kit
• Larger staggered Wheels and Tires
Engine was stock. Back in 1985 (pre-internet days) there was not a lot of aftermarket stuff out there for the RX-7.
I sold it in 1986 and bought a cheepo commuter car.
I should of hung on to that car for a few more years. Oh well.

I can't find a picture of it on this puter, but I was just thinking this morning that I missed my 97 F150. It was blue with a silver stripe at the bottom, 2 wheel drive regular cab. I bought the first 97 around when the new body style came out. I slammed it with a 4/6 drop and put 20 inch chrome wheels on it. I added a flush mount fiberglass bed cover that was painted to match, billet grills, roll pan. All the goodies. I drove it 10 years and sold it to my cousin after he totalled his truck. He drove it for a year and sold it. Gone gone gone. oh well. I have to remind myself I sold it for a reason. :(

This is pretty tough. I am a pack rat for the most part, but lately I've really just been wanting to streamline my life. If I am not using it, I need to sell it or throw it away. But I am really only talking about clutter and all the crap stuffed in every available storage place in my house. My cars don't count. :)
There were several toys I wish I still had, just for the nostalgia, but in general, I don't miss anything I don't have anymore other than a flat stomach, hair and time....

My first Cobra...

As bad as it looks, I think it could have been repaired and worth more than the Cobra I have now.

Ah, that will buff right out;eeky;
Had a neighbor that bought an original new Shelby Mustang back in the day! He was young and quickly relized he couldn't afford the payments plus insurance. Sold it 5 months after buying it. Now he kicks himself in the *** every time he see's the prices they are going for at the auctions!

Easily the two cars that I miss the most.
1994 Buick Regal Custom coupe. I know, I know… looks like a rental car (and it was.) I'd been stubbornly hanging on to my immaculate 79 Cutlass so this was my first car that was modern and had power goodies. I had to eat my words - after having the Olds for 10 years, I vowed my next car would be bigger, have 4 doors, and would NOT be white with maroon interior. So I bought a car that was the same size, with 2 doors and even white with maroon. I got it when it was 2 years old with 18k miles for $10.5k (which was a smokin' hot deal.) It was super quiet and comfortable, great on gas (24/32mpg!) and surprisingly quick. It was a true pleasure to take on road trips and I could hop out fully refreshed after a 10 hour drive. RIP: I had a fire in the garage and it got toasted / totaled after only one year. Insurance paid me $12k for the pleasure of driving it. Not my photo (mine had hubcaps), but similar:

1999 Firebird V6 (Navy Blue Metallic). My precioussssss. It's a miracle I didn't rub off all the paint. I actually detailed it one night as it was snowing knowing I'd have to drive it to work the next morning - I'm not proud. It was absolutely no quicker than my Buick, cornered like a Buick and had the worst, longest throw, sloppiest shifter I have ever encountered... but I loved it. I still miss the T-tops. I was the guy who would keep them out until the last second before it rained, have them out with the AC blasting in summer and the heater blasting in winter while wearing 2 coats. My bald spot never had a better tan. Absolutely loved it and kept it for 3 years until a new job required that I have a pick up. ("Wicked, tricksy Hobbitses stole the precious from us!") When I sold it, two different buyers asked if I detailed cars for a living. Nope, it always looked just like that!

Wish I'd kept my 61 Land Rover Series 2. Short wheel base, the Station Wagon model which meant it had all the options. Push button or good old crank start, tyre on the deluxe bonnet, alpine windows, sunsheet, jump seats. That thing would be such a beast had I kept it and fixed it. But fixing an old Rover stateside is very hard to do on a 16 year old's budget so it got sold.
Still looking for another one on the cheap (my budget isn't that much better) to fix up. Probably will just eventually get an old trooper to build my "poor man's landy". But first the VX will become my trail hero.

my Black '80 H.D. Sportster...bored out .030 w/ Makuni H.P. carb.
I love my current bike (Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom) but wish I'd also kept my "first" bike listed above.
With all the bike rallys around here in the summer it would've been nice to still have to "fit-in" with the H.D. crowd with minimal investment ($3k)
My Suzuki is just like my VX...it tends to rule the road alone...lol.
