When I got my VX it had this neat little "mirror" on the back window:

It's awesome! It makes up for the lack of view back there ALOT! I put a child car seat on the ground (so as you know, not very tall at all) and at just under 3ft from the back of my VX (measured from the rear cladding) I could see it in the mirror, now something bigger like me crouching down was within arm's length (tested it with my wife looking out the back). Just wondering if anyone else has tried something like this
i would like one, im going to search online for one.

HHMM, I'm sure there has to be somewhere online to get them still. It's been GREAT for me, especially when changing lanes.

I found this one:

and here:

I'm guessing just about any place that sells RV aftermarket would be a good place to look.

Yeah, several members have mentioned they have them, only one specifically I can recall is Gussie2000, I recall he even mentioned where he got it too. I haven't done a search, but it should be easy to find, or PM him. I know they were super cheap. Maybe JCWhitney or maybe even WallyWorld, and the RV places too, as you mentioned.

Like many others on the forum; I too, have the fresnal lens in my VX rear window and I couldn't live without it (saved my bacon numerous times). They are available from www.CampingWorld.com and then do a "search" for: Wide Angle Lens
They come in two(2) sizes and are trimmable with scissors for an exact fit if desired.
8" x 10" = $12.99
11" x 14" = $13.99

Yea- I've had one back there for years as well. You don't need to take up the entire window with the piece however. Simply cut a crescent moon shape out of it (about 6' in height) and that should do it. Scott had a post years ago that provided a template for the cut. Putting that entire layover on the window looks terrible & it's not necessary--you'll get the same results with the trimmed effort. Save shipping costs and go to your nearest RV supply place

I purchased mine several years ago from Pep Boys. The brand name was "Van Eyes" (coincendentally manufactured in Van Nuys, Ca). Cost about $12 and adheres with a little moisture - that's it!

Well I didn't install it (PO did) but with the rear window tint no one can see it but me. I don't think it looks that bad, plus with the whole thing on there it gives me a wider picture of the road behind me. Any pics of a trimmed effort?

I installed the 8"X10" variety "as is" at the very bottom and center of the window - works great, once you figure out the actual "scale" of how close a vehicle REALLY is. Hell, the rear backlight isn't much use anyway, might as well have a fresnel lens in there!

I went this route, and it looks super cool:rolleyes: Dual video inputs, fully adjustable, and its a mirror and a screen.

I was thinking about going that same route before I picked it up marlin, and it's a pretty slick setup you got. I decided now to spend the money elsewhere since the lense is already there and works so good. Your setup would be perfect for a girl changing behind you car "oh I'll sit inside while you change back there, hehe" lol

At work, we all had to get cdl's. Quick story: the new buses (35 foot body is our longest one) has these. It's about the size of a sheet of paper wide and a little taller. Great for seeing behind and beneath you, but be SUPER careful when backing up. It's very distorted in relation to distance. Use it as a reference!
Three feet is more like 6 inches. I murdered two orange cones, but I had my own crime tape :-)
