I posted this in my build thread but thought I'd make a thread for it as I think it would be useful to many others, let me know what you think:

I love being a pack rat sometimes with car parts lol. I had a 91' Suburban parts truck awhile back and I grabbed this neat little light assembly from under the hood:

It has an on/off switch and a retractable cord. Well I was thinking about mounting it under the hood but couldn't find a real good place for it, then I got a bright idea, I'll mount it in the rear cargo area, above the drivers side cubby hole. It'll be tucked up out of the way, can turn the light on when needed at night, and the cord is SUPER long and I can run it all the way to the engine bay with plenty of slack to use it as a flashlight if needed or just have it hanging from the hood. Probably be a few days before I actually mount it up but thought I'd post my find!

Hey, I think I have one of those buried somewhere in my garage. I intended to install it on a car about 5 vehicles back, but never got around to it. :rolleyesg

Installing yours in the cargo area is a good idea. Unlike being mounted out of sight under the hood, you will never accidentally leave it on because you can see it from the interior.

Ya that's what I thought after deciding to put it back there lol. Also cool because it can do double duty!

Mounting an engine compartment light in the rear cargo area ...

Why am I thinkin that you just had a Handito moment???:)

Cool approach. When you run the power lead back there, ya may want to run heavy guage wire so that you could add a power inverter in the future.

"Johnny, what can you make out of this?"

"This? Why, I can make a hat... or a brooch... or a pterodactyl..."

Sorry, joke musta been before your time. Handito mounted a cargo light on the outside of his rear door. It perfectly illuminates the stuff that he is about to load into his dark cargo area:)
