FYI

I was in Batteries + the other day. I noticed while at the counter that they sell OEM Key FOBs. I figured WTH & asked about the VX.

UNAVAILABLE ... DISCONTINUED !!!

I know, I know, some of the Honda ones work but I was bummed so didn't ask.

You know, that's why there's ebay Tommy Boy! OEMs...usually used, occasionally new. And, just like all our other "rarer" (is that a word??:_thinking) parts.. they abuse us for around $50 for a used one! That's the capitalism way!

Even more rarerer is my need so great that I'll actually do the fleabay thang. I'll leave that to you experts & just waste my time googling till I find what I need.

I got one of mine from these folks...killed me cuz they just happened to be 6 miles away but I couldn't pick it up, they work out of their home.

Got another one on Amazon (used) from "Remote Superstore"...dirt bags sent a non-OEM...I wanted OEM like their ad said...returned that one.

But there's others on Amazon, all used.

All are still in the $50-59 range used. But I did come upon one on ebay a few months ago, like brand new, got it for $15! :freek:
And I have the CORRECT programming instructions finally....if you get any that say to open and close the door a few times, and switch key back and forth...they're a bunch of hooey! It's much easier than that.

I think that part is just for programming the security mode on the VX & has nothing to do with the FOB.

Mark to the rescue... AGAIN! http://www.wtv-zone.com/markg/mag/superman.gif

Tom, I have an OEM key fob I got from a salvage yard a couple months back. I posted then that I had two to give away and only got a request for one. You can have the other one. Free, of course.

It's in very good condition. It has a battery and the red light comes on.

I don't have your address anymore, so PM it to me and I'll get it out tomorrow.

Mine is not working anymore either..... Well it will work for about 2 weeks and then kill the battery. I have been through 3 batteries in the last 3-4 months or so. I have no idea what the problem with it is. When you get a new/used one how in the world do you program it to work with your VX?

It's easy, I have the directions at home. In general, hold the green button down on the security module way up under dash, Above left foot, a few clicks and lights flash and a few chirps and it's programmed. You can also clear out a fob and start over, maybe that would help yours?

when changing the fob battery does it then have to be re-programmed or should it still work? I changed my battery thinking that was the issue and it still doesn't work.

It shouldn't ... but it won't hurt to try the reprogramming routine.
