Can anyone tell me why the Power steering pressure line to the stearing gear has to leave the pump then go down past the steering gear then makes right and follows the crossmember under the radiator nearly to the passenger side then it doubles back to the steering gear area again where it junctions with a solid machine bent line which enters the steering gear. To put it differently the line only needs to 12 inches but I'd swear its every bit 4 feet long. What am I missing here does it need to cool or something first.? I told a mechanic that someone had jacklegged it until I saw a Trooper P. S. diagram that showed this exact line bent all over the place.... Chris. (Ebenezr)

Probably helps keep it all cooler.

Is it the same on the JDM? Perhaps a functions of moving the steering assy from the right to the left?

It functions as a basic steering fluid cooler. Most, if not all cars, have that.
