get rid of scratches on plastic ?

Hi Everyone...

anyone with good idea on how to get
rid of scratches on like the plastic
(bumpers and doors) that goes all around the vx ?

can the be buffed out anyway ?

or fixed / patched by a body shop ?

or is that it...you get a scratch...
you gotta get a new bumper ?

I had a ton of little scratches from off-roading and I just used some Mother back to black and it made nearly all the scratches disapear. I used like half the bottle on the VX. I had one really bad scratch from the front fender all the way back. I just kept adding more back to black and unless you know its there (and look for it) you don't even see it anymore.

Many of the interior hard plastic liners tend to get dinged over time, especially the cargo area liners and rear door liner....they can begin to look ugly after a while

Are there plastic repair kits that can restore a near original finish to this

I have mostly black panels with some red...

I just tried a bed liner gel to dye the cladding, and it looks like it's gonna come out hot. The thing is the application is a bizatch, I had quite a few streeks. My claddingw as looking really bad, the front bumper was a completely different grey and both ends of the rear bumper had rings fom the plastic being concaved and stretched from backing up into things. Anyway, I finally have all black all the way around, everything matches. It's called forever black, wait till I put some pictures up, this way peeps can decide if they want to go threw the hastle of putting this stuff on.

I restored all of the interior vinyl panels in my '82 Mustang last year using products from The Eastwod Company (http://www.eastwoodcompany.com/). I used Plastic Prep (http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=2523&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=601&iSubCat=603&iProductID=2523), Sand Free Primer (http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=2514&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=601&iSubCat=603&iProductID=2514), and black Vinyl Coat (http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=2531&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=601&iSubCat=603&iProductID=2531). Looks great! I don't drive it much, so I can't say how well it will hold up, but sure made a difference in my 'Stang.

I tried buffing out the scraches and its a bad idea. The surface of the cladding is darker than what's underneath, and buffing removes the texture. I also tried one of those black dye products that was suggested (on my half moon only thank goodness), and it looked good for about a month. Then it started fading in a splochty way.

Mother's Back to Black is my choice these days.
