Help ? Looking for mat that would cover entire caro area

I took my rear seat for a home depot run and realized how much more practical it was to keep it out. But now I'd like to get a mat (hopefully with matching pair with front) that covers the entire cargo area.

Does anyone know who sells or would have the pattern to make a set ?

I have a rubber truck bed liner in mine.

I just took a large piece of dynamatt and used a cardboard cutout template I made and cut to size works great.

A good auto trim shop should be able to make a set of mats for you. They take automotive carpet,sew it to a rubber mat for backing, then bind the edges together. You can even get the carpet embroidered with a VX logo. The downside is the expense. Any custom work like this is likely to cost hundreds of dollars. The chance that some aftermarket MFGs make a back carpet for the few people who remove their seat is unlikely.
I have removed my back seat [and am trying to sell it] and am contemplating making a mat set as described. I have removed the seatbelts and all seat related hardware. I am also looking at boxing in the rear foot well area and creating a hidden storage while leveling out the floor. I have many projects going for my VX at present and when and if I ever do this I post pix.

Seems that the practicality you liked for your Home Depot run would be ill-served by a carpet "mat" - as janodes indicates above it will likely be expensive and wear out fairly quickly depending on how often you use it for cargo.

Most all-weather mat companies offer matching mats for the cargo, rear seat, and front seat areas. The Hexomat material that I mentioned earlier can also be purchased for the front seats so everything would match front to back.

I like the rubber diamond-plate as well as the hexomat. One of our members even used the rubber diamond-plate for a headliner. I think these would be more functional than carpet, as stuff wouldn't slide around as much, and you can always keep the carpet as the mats up front. I don't see a problem with the front seat carpet not matching the cargo area, but hopefully we've given you some good ideas.

Try this (updated) link. It shows an install in a vehicle towards the bottom. The company sells stuff for gyms. I plan on doing this to the cargo area and working my way forward when I have time. Pretty cheap for a roll. I already used it for my seat backs.

Looks sharp! I may do a separate center hump overlapping the two separate side (driver/passenger) pieces and one back section. I did this about 15 years ago on my 77 celica liftback that I turned into a mini-Mad Max replica. Wanted to do it to the VX next. You beat me to it, but it looks MUCH better than carpeting.

I was at a Sports Authority over the weekend, and they carried a light gray rubber diamond plate. It was $20 for a 4'x8' sheet.

I picked up a roll of charcoal gray, 1/4" diamond tread foam pad at Biglots. It is 48" x96" for 18 bucks!! I am going to try that for the front/rear seat area. I will leave the rear as herculine since that is where the cargo gets pulled in and out. Even if it doesn't work out, I can put it in the garage, or worst case, it was only 18 bucks.

I will post up pics when I am done. Hopefully I can do this tomorrow. I am still debating whether or not to leave the old carpet under it?

That was always my conundrum. I was worried about moisture getting trapped under it. I think to remedy that I was going to leave open areas under the center console where moisture could evap out.

Other thought, was if all the carpet is out it will be pretty noisy. I thought about getting some house carpeting cushion material for sound deadening.

Last vehicle I took the carpeting out altogether though.

I am way beyond the noise issue, with mudders, rattling exhaust and tools, I found the perfect sound deadening device, the volume knob:)

I went to sports authority today and they had a 46" x 93" roll of foam diamond plate flooring for $29.99. Very tempting, but I needed some new shoes so I used the 25% off one single item this week coupon and then a gift card and got some $85 shoes for $20 :-)

I might go back and get that flooring if I don't find anything else soon though.
