I got tired of seeing the rock chips in my hood insert and roof rails, but after trying several colors that looked close it still was not good.

I took one of my rail caps into Home Depot to find a color sample that matched...came up with Behr Deep Space 750F-7...no I'm not using house paint on the VX!

I mixed a 50/50 blend of Dupli-Color Universal Flat Black (NG SF 104) and Dark Shadow Grey Metallic (NG FM 360). I mixed it on the color swatch I got from Home Depot until it looked right and then applied it with a fine tip brush from Michaels (or any other hobby shop that carries fine tip brushes for artist). It turned out great!

Hope this helps others that may be facing the same issue.

Before...you can see the darker spots near the front about even with the washer nozzle

I had a quart of exterior paint mixed-up at Lowe's to match our roof rails, since trimming the rail caps exposes some pretty ugly yellow plastic. It looks like a perfect match to me, but then again I don't know that I would trust it on some place as visible as the hood.

If I remember correctly, the spoiler is the same yellow plastic. My spoiler had 3 small gouges that were bugging me. One night I looked over on the workbench and a black Sharpie marker caught my eye. I thought "what the heck" and did a quick touch-up. That was in July and it still looks good after several rains & washes. Actually, it probably looks better now that it's faded a little.
