OEM Isuzu dome light added to the cargo area.

Just needs a little more trimming in the headliner to make it nice and even with the front.

I want to do this for sure! Do you have to remove the headliner or can you fish the wires up to the front one with it in place?

I fished the wires through with a wire coat hanger that I made straight.

I made a template from an index card, taped it to the headliner, drew the pattern with a pencil, cut the headliner with a razor knife, removed the headliner piece and the insulation, wired it up with some 14 gauge wire tied into the front dome light.

It was really easy and took me about an hour and a half.

For those that are interested, PM me, and I will see about getting some more dome lights that match ours. I sold him a pair from a Limited Trooper.

Nice work MH, now why couldn't Isuzu have spent the extra $3 to make this a standard feature? :_confused

Way to go. I have been wanting to do this for a LONG time, but haven't been able to find another VX dome light. Every time someone is parting out a VX I seem to get to the party just a few minutes too late and someone has already scooped the dome light up.

Marlin, I would be in for a Trooper dome light, but from what I remember they are black and not grey like the VX's dome light. If this isn't the case then put me down for one.

Mine was grey like ours. The front ones on the Troopers that Marlin got it from are grey and the rear ones are black and have a manual switch, not the push type like ours.

Well hell, put me down for a grey, push type Trooper dome light!

When you get it, bring it over.

I'll install it for you while you do my timing belt change...:bwgy::smilewink:bgwo::bgwb:

That doesn't sound like an exact trade to me.:_wtf:

I see a timing belt (and other things) get together in the Colorado VXers future.

Just some trimming to line it up with the front dome light.

Good work MH! Now you just need some LEDs to add even more light! :)

Thanks vt...I've been reading the LED threads and thinking about that...just not sure I use them enough to spend the $$$ right now.it

If I had it to do again I think that only thing different that I would do is mount it a bit further back toward the rear. Where it is now with the seats up it's still not very light in the storage area...

Yes, I just used the screws that came with it and screwed them through the headliner. I did remove the plastic "nut" that is on the backside so that it fit flush.

Is the headliner rigid enough to hold the light? I know the light assembly is well, lite...not heavy. Just not sure about future sag, etc...?

So far no problems...I can't imagine it ever being an issue.
