So, here is the dilema...a couple days ago my ps3 stopped connecting to my wireless router. The router is working correctly. The ps3 shows that it recognizes the server when I check it on the ps. When I run a connection test it fails to get the ip address. Smoke else seen this problem? How did you fix it? Of course I am 2 months past the warranty:mad:

Sometimes the NAT setting in routers can cause issues. I've never had a problem with my PS3 but I had a similar issue with my Xbox. I would do a reset on your router & check settings (usually found by though a default IP address like 192.168.2.1)

Mine just did this bro, it took a week but I finally got it to connect. I had to unplug the modem and the router, then connect.

Step 1: Put out fire.
Step 2: Buy new PS3.

Ha! I was typing on my phone...it has that thing that auto "corrects" words and thinks it is smarter than me! Apparently its not:bwgy:

Everyone was quick to pounce on the XBod "Red Rings of Death". But ya know, Sony had their fair share of issues and just hid them a LOT better than MS.

My PS3 is simply a glorified BluRay player. I never play games on it (big old ethernet cable too, not wireless).

call tech support for router and they will walk you through opening other gateways that the PS3 needs. Took me about 10 minutes after trying to do it myself and see how many times I can get mad.. Hope this helps.

Well I personally have 3 PS3's in my home and the one that died last week I bought in Dec of 2006 and its the only one to ever have a problem. After over 4 years of being run hours on end I was expecting it to die soon haha. PS3 has been issue free in my case.

Try turning off all your security and test just to be sure. sometimes the type of security you're running can cause it to act wonky. Then if that works of course play around with those settings and see if you can flush it out. Also before doing any of that perhaps try running a long ethernet to the machine just to be sure it's the wireless only.

I've always had issues with my PS3 wireless being slow as dirt though. My 360 downloads content about 4x as fast.

I've got about 15 or so good friends with 360s which we play online together a lot. About half of those guys (and gal) have PS3s and I can tell you now I think all but two of us have sent our 360 in for red ring. I also had a 360 I bought for my old office that I had to send in TWICE. Not a single one has had to send in their PS3.

That's the irony, though. 360 is gangbusters for it's online play and game selection, but the PS3 has been rock solid and a great media machine. It's a shame really. I pretty much only buy exclusives for the PS3. Everything else I get on 360.

Well apparently it just needed a little rest. Did nothing, turned it on today and it has fixed itself!:winky:
