hey all,
after seeing some chrome fangs for sale on here i took mine to the chrome shop to get them chromed only to find out they are stainless and ya cant chrome stainless duh(i didnt know that)
so i polished them up..they turned out pretty good.
I am also making a grill insert for my other grill with the honeycomb cut out of it.i got the design from a three piece set on here that was for sale but bought before i could get them,so i figured i would take a stab at makin my own.
below is a picture of the template that i transfered to a 24 x 12 piece of 22 gauge steel and then cut it out with my dremel and a ton of cutting wheels.them dropped it of at the chrome shop..cant wait to pick it up.

Looking forward to seeing that put together.

LOL - I always assumed the fangs were plastic!

I'd like to polish my fangs. Any tips for the process? Thanks :)

mine had a clear coat on them and the black paint so you will have to strip that off then get some polishing compound.i used two steps the first compound was for taking out scratches and stuff than the other compound was for the finish.you will probably need a bench grinder with buffing wheels on it.you cant use one wheel for both compounds.
the first step compound will need a tight stitch buffing wheel and the finish compound will need a loose wheel.
the buffing compounds are not like a polish for your car they are a hard stick kinda like a clay bar

Why not leave the paint on the fangs and only polish the bright area?

that would be pretty hard with a buffing wheel on a bench grinder.
mine had some kind of clear coat on them that had to be stripped before they could be buffed
