Roof Rack Availability?

Hello Everyone,
Been a while since I posted here. Had an 01' Ebony that I had to get rid of a couple of years ago due to moving, but looking to get back in the game. Have my eyes on a couple of different VX's and am wondering how hard it is to find a roof rack and mighty mounts to mount a fairing to it.

Any input would be appreciated.

the roof racks are very difficult to come by, VXKat is great about finding them though, so if you are willing to pay $350+ you could probably find a roof rack within a month or two.

the mighty mounts are discontinued, but a few are still floating around.. give your self a few months to find them and expect to pay around $50 for them.

if you can find a vx with the racks on it already it would be cheaper/easier, but a few people have found yakima round bars or thule square bars and mounts that work OK with our factory rails, not perfect but easier to find and easier to attach to

I figured these would be difficult to get a hold of. I don't mind waiting, I just didn't know if they were ever available. I'll pm VX Kat to see what she thinks. If anyone else knows of a place to find either the rack or mounts, let me know.

What he said. When you do get around to buying a fairing, both Yakima and Thule still produce models that are compatible (actually they're all mostly universal). Personally I like the more substantial look of the Thule fairings, take a look at these threads for an idea of what they look like installed.

I think I may have 1 or 2 extra mighty mounts in the garage, let me know when you track down the cross bars (since that will be the hardest part) and maybe we can cobble you a set together.

Yeah, I like the Thule Fairing. This is what I had on my previous VX. Thanks for the offer on the mounts.... Will let you know if I have any luck with the rack...

Mighty Mounts are easy to come by. I just bought some to mount my basket. All I did was Google Mighty Mounts and there were plenty of places that still had them in stock.

You could buy aftermarket crossbars and mod them to fit like I did:
