So I just got home from a drive of about an hour and 20 minutes. My feet were tired so I had taken my shoes off and had them on the floor in front of the passenger seat. Pulled in the driveway and when I picked up the shoes I noticed the soles were really warm/ bordering on hot. I felt the floor mat and it to was hot. Lifted up the mat and the carpet was really warm. I cant believe this is typical, but I also cant say that I have ever checked to see if this IS typical.

1. Any ideas?

2. Should I be concerned?

Thanks - Mike

I think it's normal, or at least it's the same as mine. I never set anything cold ( milk, drinks, ice cream) on the passenger floorboard because of the heat.

Mine too gets red hot, as does the transmission housing & cup holder area.....but only after about 3-4-5 hrs of driving. I had my camera case on the rubber floor mat on pass side, it was just cooking! I almost think I could boil water in the cup holder sometimes.....

you want really hot, drive for about and hour and touch the area under the windshield forward of the center console.. it felt like a radiator hose!

the tranny area does heat up as well, so this bottle laying on the tranny housing gets warm after a while. Surprisingly, my feet never hit this thing, it's completely out of the way.
It would be really cool to find a place to permanantly mount this metal holder somewhere AWAY from the heat…that vertical tab is at least 5-6" long ….any ideas?

You could always heat wrap the converter. Some here have done that because it was considered possible that the excess heat may have been negatively affecting the transmission mode selector switch on the drivers' side of the transmission in that same area.

I personally used a kit along these lines.
