I had a paint company mix up a bit of Isuzu "804" paint for me and found some 7/32 inch black pinstriping. I took the engine cover off and scrubbed it down with Dawn dishwashing detergent to get all the oil, grease and plastic film off.
Using an airbrush, I gave the cover 6 light coats of paint. I let the paint "cure" for a week in my nice warm solarium. After the paint was for sure set, I went over the surfaces that the pinstriping was going to be laid down with isopropol alcohol. Then laid down the stripes. I then used a very fine, flat, wide artists paintbrush. and thinned down black enamel paint and did the V6 DOHC 24 Valve part.. (the hardest part!). I let everything set for a couple more days and viola!
This picture taken in October replaces the original ones that did right after I finished in March.. The finish looks as good as new and held up very well under all the heat of Summer and the engine compartment.

This looks great, really polished. Glad to hear the pinstriping held up under the heat (I'm actually surprised).

Now... what are you going to do once you get an S/C?

I was disapointed to know that the SC only comes in black now. I was hoping that it would come unfinished then I could powerd coat it to whatever color I chose.. It'll be a while before I'm able to get one anyway.. Law Enforcement is the highest paid career..
