Have read some older threads where some users have used a blocking plate between the egr and gasket to do an egr delete. Most reported better at idle and wot performance, but none were updated after the first week of doing this. wondered if anyone who has done this and ran it for awhile had an updates on good / bad issues with it. Thanks.

i think that would throw a trouble code for insufficient egr flow po401

it will, but if you are already getting it anyway for a stuck open / closed egr, or if you are one of the unfortunate ones who have replaced it just to have the code pop up every week anyway, its already on.

Have you cleaned the egr tube also?

Thanks for the helpfull replies guys, I have cleaned the system and replaced the valve, there are many helpful post on the forums about how to do this, it works fine, and have replaced as needed, but some on the forum have deleted or blocked off the egr, and I have run egr deletes on other vehicles. However, there were concerns about raising cylindar temps if deleted on the vx, or oil burn off increasing. There were also reports of possible mpg increase and decrease, engine noise decrease, etc. I was hoping some of the users who had done this would update if they experinced this or if they still recommended. I just hated to revive several year old dead threads.
