Entering the Vehicross in a local "unusual" car show here in Monterey this Saturday. Should be more fun than last years dismal experience with Cherry's Jubilee here in Monterey, which was for charity, but the staff were complete jerks.

I entered under the new "special interest" vehicle category and apparently the staff didn't get the word. Wanted to know why I was even there. Got alot of Millennium Falcon-type comments. (nerd humor)

This car show crowd looks to be a good fit: Sort of a "Land of Misfit Toys" group.

Will take some pics of the other vehicles there. Not expecting to win anything, but in it just to have a good time.

Looks like the "WTF???" category is your best bet.

Ha ha! This was the subject of an episode last season on Chasing Classic Cars (http://dhd.discovery.com/tv/chasing-classic-cars/chasing-classic-cars.html).

I remember that episode. Bribery of the judges was not just tolerated, but expected! Bring cash or booze.

Not something to enter a VX in, but we used to have a local event called the "hooptie car show". It was for the crappiest vehicle you could find...had to be currently licsenced, insured and drivable.

When I was in Monterey from 2002-2005, the Concorso Italiano was willing to have VXes there in their non-IT paddock (once I explained to the young lady who called what a Vehicross is)... so long as we had 10+ showing up (like the Vipers).

Should be fun. Wouldn't enter the VX in a hooptie car show, but I think it fits in with the oddball, limited production, WTF crowd at this show. Not sure if it looks wild enough as all my mods look (almost) like they were stock.

Will post pics afterwards.

@fuzzy: You had 10x VXs in Monterey at the same time? Right now I am the lone VX guy here. In Tacoma WA we had a big crowd right around Fort Lewis, got spoiled there.

Made it an "international" event apparently. Who knew? Anyway, my VX showed up on a Deutsch website:

I won a bottle of cheap wine with a picture of a Pacer on it. Mine was entered under "Soul Sucking Japanese Monstrosity" category. It was a lot more fun than the serious pedigree car shows in town (with the exception of the Local Motors "Rally Fighter" I saw in the flesh, and drooled on.

Check out the slideshow. My fave is the Gremlin and the owner in period 70s pantsuit. (3 of 24)

Mine was entered under "Soul Sucking Japanese Monstrosity" category. That's very mean, but it sure did make me laugh! I disagree, but... meh.... funny is funny!
