Might want to try explaining your question a bit more clearly.

Might want to try explaining your question a bit more clearly.

My translation:

Q: A cam sensor from a Trooper made in May 2001...will it fit?

A: It should, if they both have 6VE1 engines.

As I understand it, the Trooper engine doesn't have the CAM sensor in the same place so my mechanic can't find it.

Is there anyone out there who has done this exchange before that might be able to advise my mechanic?

Help me Obi Wan _________ - (insert your last name here), you or someone with similar knowledge, are my only hope....

Thanks for watching the short!

I'm not sure either year has a cam sensor but there is a crankshaft position sensor. I've searched the manual and can't find a Camshaft position sensor.

#1) The camshaft position sensor is the same exact part in the same exact position on both engines. If the sensor is not there on the Trooper engine, there should be a plug that can be removed.

#2) Why does he even have to mess with that part? Isn't he doing a simple engine swap?

#3) If your mechanic can't find info on engines and parts and needs your help to do his job, then you need to get another mechanic.

I found this info with just a few clicks on the internets.

It's the same diagram for both engines, #327 is the cam sensor-

cam sensor on a vx is located is located on the back on the left side of the right side cylinder head right above #6 cylinder. the orientation is from in front of engine not drivers seat. it is a little hidden by intake plenum. manual says that a 2000 trooper has same location. your mechanic should be able to figure out his options if it is the 6ve1 (3.5L) engine and the cam sensor is in a different location there are 2 options adapt wire harness to fit (assume sensor are the same) or swap heads from vx assuming you did not throw a rod and bend valves. you need to provide more details why engine is being replaced year of trooper engine is from ect... anyways a mechanic should have no problem figuring it out if he is complaint

Is hard to believe in the internet era a mech wouldn't find the location of a basic engine part on a such basic engine and have the customer struggling to figured out that
