Should I put a new engine in or yank mine out and rebuild it. and will the Black Pearl sail again? I don't know. My day of reckoning is here. I have been working on power loss and misfire issues for 12 weeks now and finally did an engine hot compression test - I dreaded doing it cause I was afraid what I would find- and my fears were confirmed. Both banks are down to around 90 psi !!
The writing is on the wall. The pictures I posted a month ago of oil splattered around inside the common throttle body are from excess blow by. rings are shot. :_crying: I am certain now that former owners did not take care of her.

I would just try to source a new engine or yank yours, buy a rebuild kit and deliver to you nearest machine shop for rebuilding.

Maybe make TexVeX an offer for her rolled VX.....

...that would give you an engine, and other spares too.

....which you would still have to rebuild because of age/miles/rollover. You can also look for 3.2L engines from the Rodeo, as user DIMITR showed that it can also be transplanted into the VX with limited hassle.
