Hi,
I got a trooper or amigo tailgate switch off ebay. It came without a pigtail. I have tried with my ohmeter to find the switched contacts. I found pins 1 & 3 show resistance and light the on indicator light with switch on or off. Pins 2 & 3 show open and closed when I operate the switch. I could live with just the switch function, but I would have liked the switch illumination so I could find it in the dark. Any info? Thanks in advance.

View of back of switch, pin numbers:

1234
xxx5

1-3 = on indicator
2-3 = switched contacts

Thanks,
It's almost what I need but not quite. Still need the switch illumination pins.

or the right pigtail for the hatch release button......there's two different shaped ones. The "older" style is the more squarish one (on left), and the newer is the longer, thinner footprint. IIRC the 95-96 or 97 Rodeos and Passports have the older style, and I think newer Troopers have the slimmer style. http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g386/photokat4/DSCF3778.jpg

Also, I think "deermagnet" wired his and messed with the pins like you're doing, maybe PM him.

Here's his post (he did it for his fog lights too) IIRC:

and here's the thread it came from...

Thanks VX KAT,
One of your links led to a picture of the pinouts:
