Hi,

My ABS light has been on for over a years now. Sometimes it goes out for a day or so then back on again! Brakes are working fine, Is there a way I can easily turn this thing off or disconnect?

Thanks

Pull the dash out and remove the ABS bulb.
Seems like that is what is generally recommended.
It's what has been done on my VX.
Seems to work :)

Maybe this will help a bit? I don't know.

Might be able to pull the ABS fuses under the hood as an alternative - not sure if the light is attached to those fuses though. Still would be something quick and easy to try before you pull the dash apart.

The easiest, cheapest, fastest method without any hassle is to simply put a tiny piece of "Black Electrician's Tape" over the indicator light on the dashboard.

There's a pin you can bend down on the ABS module electrical harness. You'll find the search function is amazing and you can find directions in an existing thread with a little research ;).

The pin bend thing worked great on my '99 as it should per the '99 electrical manual. I haven't seen anyone else have success with that method, but they were '00 and '01's. I wonder if there is some slight difference after '99? I have yet to see the '00 electrical manual to compare.

I've heard the whole dash cluster can be removed in minutes with just a few screws. I think you'd be better off doing that and removing the ABS bulb.

If you can work a screwdriver, you can have the whole dash apart in less that 5 minutes.

Ah; yes, but how many hours will it take to put it all back together after you lose the tiny little screws and break-off critical plastic joints in the process???

Hahahaha. I used a screwdriver that had a magnetic tip for that exact purpose lol.
Plastic clips......Just fortunate enough to have not broken them yet lol. It was only a little iffy near the climate control and ash tray. The rest was easy.

I just bend the pin on the module related to the light and never...ever had that sun of b.. on again

Thanks for all the advise! Was trying to avoid the dash thing figuring it would be a pain, but sounds like a pretty simple deal if I go that way. The pin bend sounds like a good first option for me since my VX is a '99'.
