View Full Version : Searching for BETA testers...
Hey all,
Some of you may remember a PC-based application written especially for the VX that I released a couple of years ago or so.
At the time, it was called VX-Utility (very creative huh?)...
Since then, the project had laid pretty much stagnant until now.
Over the past months, I revisited and reworked the project and it's now ready for BETA testing.
I'm looking for individuals that are willing to download the program and test it. This is *NOT* a full release candidate.
Bugs may still be lurking and I need your help to stomp 'em out.
I'm looking for all types of computer configurations (Windows 98, 98SE, ME, XP, XP Pro).. as well as Dialup and Broadband internet connections. Essentially, the more people testing with different setups, the better.
So, if you're interested and think you can devote some time to test the application, visit: http://www.vxtoolbox.com for more info.
Also, please direct any comments, bug reports etc to my email found in the above URL. I don't want to clutter up this board with "testing" and "Bug reports" posts/replies.
Thanks in advance for your interest.
Regz,
JAG!
PS: Thanks to Scott (Moncha) for allowing me to post this notice. :D

It looks like it could work with any vehicle, is any part of it geared specifically to VX's? (Other than comparing fuel economy with other owners)
Technically, I guess it could be geared to any vehicle.. but the fuel/mpg section does compare your values to those of the VX specs. That's how it determines your efficiency.
The Factory Maintenance area items came straight from the VX manual.
JAG!
A little sidenote: It wasn't until after I had completed the original had I realized the program could technically be used for other vehicle makes/models.. but, since the program's inception and in this version, I've only had our awesome VX in mind.

It's kinda like a little database that allows you to keep tabs on your VX.
It allows you to see what your fuel costs and mpg are..and compare it to the factory specs.
Based on elapsed months and mileage, it'll let you know what items are up for maintenance.
You can keep a log of any service/standard maintenance for future reference.
You're welcomed to view the online docs -- which gives you screenshots and more info on the program specifics.

Jag!
It's great to see you picking up this project again. I really liked your original utility. I can do some beta testing for you - as I am currently also testing out vmware for work. At home I am running W2K3 Server, W2K Server, NT4 Domain Controller, XP Pro, W2K Pro, and Windows NT 4.0 Workstation ( simultaneously on one machine ). No plans to dip into 98, but I do have Milleneum at my disposal as well. I'll try to beat it up for ya!
D
As usual, thanks for being a long-time supporter of the project! :D
Of course, any help you can provide is immensely appreciated.

Jag,
So far, so good.
I like the program. Thanks for letting me test it out! ;Dr;
Sorry for the hiccup earlier.
Glad to see things are working for ya -- and as the subject states, Thank YOU for your time and effort.
JAG!
FYI: I've installed a forum at VXToolbox.com -- which will serve as a support center once the app goes "live".

I downloaded it and will plug in odometer and gas receipt in the morning. Looks pretty straight forward and user freindly so far. I like the GUI.
Thanks, Rich... Hope it all works out.

First of all, thanks to all of you that are testing the app.
I have released a newer BETA -- available at
http://www.vxtoolbox.com
If your previous BETA version was working fine, you should be able to download the (.exe) archive and overwrite the existing .exe file in the VX ToolBox directory. Otherwise, the full install is also available.
This new BETA adds a new "Weather Center" feature -- plus some minor cosmetic fixes and fine-tuning to promote program stability.
Enjoy!
JAG!
Thanks to all that d/l'ed the program for BETA testing purposes...
Specifically, I'd like to thank Moncha, Anita, Scuba Steve and Dyanni for their input and help. Version 2.0 is no longer in BETA and is now ready for public use.
For those of you that downloaded the BETA, it is best to uninstall it first before installing the final version. Any VXTB .dat files created during your use of the BETA are compatible with this version.
You can download and get more info at: http://www.vxtoolbox.com
Enjoy! :D
PS: If you're a VX owner living outside the United States, contact me via the website link above. I'm planning on releasing an "International" version of the software and have some questions. Thanks.
