Knocking Engine, and Oil usage

Well I'm at 61718 miles and my engine is burning 2.5 quarts of oil per 1000 miles. Running 10W30 Royal Purple. Engine is starting to get bad knocking sound, and Im getting SCARED!!!! Can anyone give some advice on who, what, where to take this thing? Is warranty strictly out of the question????? :wtfr2: There is no oil on the ground, and the vehicle does not smoke!! I'm guessing it's burning the oil jsut enough that I don't notice the smoking.........:eek:

Oh yeah just a note that there is no Check Engine light coming on, and the oil light came on just before last oil change. The knocking was REAL bad then (sounded like a diesel)!!!! This thing has had nothing but synthetics ran in it since 17000 miles, all fairly well documented!

Are you the original owner? I hope so...... If not your gonna have to beg some people at Isuzu to help you out since you are soooo close to the 60,000 mile mark. I hope everything works out for you :luck:

Did you check your EGR pipe fitting?? I thought the same (engine Knock!!) but was just the EGR ...so give that a check..it sounds just like a diesel knock...and for your oil usage..you probably should go check that one out!

The subject of burning oil has been discussed before but is of great concern to me. I have 42k miles and check my oil at every fill up. I used to be able to make it 3000 miles, no problem. Then I noticed that I needed to add. I am up to about 1.5 quarts per 3000 miles. I am going to see the isuzu rep thursday about some other issues (rim pits and cracked insert) and will mention the oil thing. I notice some black residue on the tailpipe but not much.

Do you see any tailpipe residue Captain?

What's the deal with 60,000 miles alsakaVX?

nope, not the original owner, owned since 17000 miles. I'm sure it's not the EGR because the knock goes away as soon as more oil is added.......

Same here and my VX only has 38,000 on it. I add a quart every 1500 miles now to otherwise it knocks.

I have the same problem. I have 66,200 miles on mine now, I think it started tapping and burning oil around the 60,000 miles.
Just been adding oil till I can take it in. Its time for check up any way so I'll take it in soon.. My warranty is good untill 75,000.

If your a second owner your the warranty runs out at 60,000 as compared to an original owners 120,000 miles. Was just hoping that it could be brought back to the dealership for free repairs. And if they deny you repairs due to millage they will give you a 1-800 number to call and beg for them to fix it since the problem most likely started before 60,000. Not sure if the '99s had a 120,000 mile warranty but I know my 2001 did (now 60,000) I'm a second owner.

I just passed 50,000 and my CD player broke again. Took it in and its not covered anymore. I was only at 50,400 miles so they gave me a 1-800 # to call and see if they will still repair it, but its very unlikely with what I have seen.

My buddy has the same problem you have about the knocking engine and oil burned up and he went to the dealer were he brought his VX and the service department said, your knocking is coming form your cam shaft. So at 36,000miles he got a new engine and i heard that your not the original owner so i hope you have money cuz the isuzu vehicross 3.5l v-6 engine cost about $5800. or maybe they can rebuild the engine by put a new cam shaft with a small block.
