Illuminated Door Sills

I would like to upgrade my baby's interior with some nice stainless steel illuminated door sills. I've seen these around and they just look awesome!

I've emailed a couple of companies that make these to see if they would customize some for the VX and just waiting to hear back. One company (King Penn Industries, or KPI) posted the following in a Crossfire forum:

"Yes, the best part about these is that they are FULLY customizable. You can put any text you want on them and we can even use very basic symbols and images as long as they are very simple and bold. We've already got an order for OU BOOMER SOONERS!
Each customer that chooses the CUSTOM option will be sent a proof of the graphics before anything is done. Each order will be processed and designed in the order that they are received. "

So I'm waiting to hear back but I just wanted to throw this out there... if they come back and ask about a group order I was wanting to know if anyone here would be interested?

So Stephen got back with me and said:

"I just sent a few photos of a new product coming soon. Its totally flat on the bottom so it might work for you I’m not sure.

We can put any graphics you want if it did fit. I would need some dimensions though. Or, I can give you the dimensions and you can see if it would work"

I asked him what dimensions he needs to proceed.

What would it say? VX? VehiCROSS? The VX emblem (VehiCross, with ehi in red)?

It can say whatever you want it to say if you pay the extra $. Ty, I'm in TX. What measurements do they need? I don't mind driving :)

From what I understand, the "image/logo/words" are etched out and behind it is a solid uniform color (although I will ask about multicolor). I know a couple people that have these stock on their cars and it looks VERY nice (also w/illuminated door handle via led).

Personally I was thinking of the VehiCross badge (on the side of vx). Maybe have it spread out a bit more where each letter has its own spacing. VX would be ok, but because it's short, it wouldn't take up much width space to show light and the effect might not be as impressive, i dunno... I'm down for brainstorming...

In a perfect world, personally if I could get a unique set, it would have illuminated alien symbols. After the exterior changes then I'm moving interior and going for a full alien theme including symbols going down the pillars in the front, liquid neon sticks on the rear pillars, alien symbols going across the border of the headliner, and so on...

If I can afford to have a unique set of sills, I would definintely do my alien theme :yesy:

Measurements... his reply was just a few moments ago. He's very fast at responding...

"Just the basic dimensions of the panels where the sills would go. Specifically any part that is flat that they would potentially mount to."

I have a heavy work week but since the weather is going to be nice I'm trying my HARDEST to get off early to finish gutting my vx in prep for her paint. Currently having troubles getting the rear cladding off

On their site, you have standard etch $269 and a custom etch (which would be ours) for $319. So I'm guessing a pair would be around the custom price.

So I sent the measurements and more pics and this was the response:

"Sorry but at this time I would not have anything that would completely
replace your carpet retainers (plastic pieces) as well as provide a sill for
you. I would suggest getting on Alibaba.com, creating an account and typing
in sill plates or door sills. I found hundreds on there myself and I'm sure
one of the styles would work."

So I did this and he was right. Basically what needs to be done is to search this site for a manufacturer that makes one that will either fit ours or find a manufacturer that makes one close enough and have them modify it. The only problem is that to make this work it seems that many of these manufacturers wants an order of 50 or more to manufacture.

That will never happen in the Isuzu world especially with the high price tag. I wonder if we can make something ourselves :confused:

In the mean time, during my BS time I will continue to search for someone on that website he gave me...

I really think illuminated door sills would really really be cool :)
