Do these things actually work? or are they... as I suspect "Snake oil?"

Any kind of forced induction requires compression. Fans don't compress air they just move it. The 3.5 swallows around 300 cubic feet of air per minute - that fan would move maybe 2 CFM. An M90 supercharger has to turn at 10000 rpm to pressurize a 3.5 to 3psi.......
Plenty of these get sold too...make an interesting shelf ornament!

No bro, sorry, i bought 2 of them, and the only reason i bought them where for extra fresh air blown inside from the outside, that does work, obviously, but not to much difference. for turbo reasons, nope tried it for kicks, and does crap, lol.

I think we should be grateful they are guaranteeing that you won't get more than 15 additional horsepower, so you won't over-torque your tranny or something.
