wondering what movies ppl around here liked.
i just finished the third stage of initial d and im surprised to say i got hooked on an anime series. im looking into more car related movies to watch.
as far as other movies go, i do enjoy a couple of the f&f movies, biker boyz, the wraith (anyone remember that one?). and of coarse i loved the dukes of hazzard when i was a kid.
so...what else out there is worth watching or a must see? maybe you got a favorite tv/movie car you'd like to mention...

Was Going to mention the wraith! There is always the classics though. i.e. gone in sixty seconds original, mad max, christine, bullit, Or ultra cheesy like night rider. But the best car series by far is Top Gear! (British Version) huge information and great humor

On British Top Gear the US one is not nearly as good but has its moments. Answer me this why have a Stig when you have a racing driver as host? Frankly all 3 hosts are a bit lame. They just don't have a broad enough background and comradery to keep the show interesting.

Dust to Glory was really good. Think I've watched it 2-3 times now. Love the Beast about Eric Bana's Falcon is a pretty good one too.
Half my Netflix que is filled up with car movies I want to see. Got the original Gone in 60 seconds last week and Bullit should be here soon. :)

- The Jaguar hearse in Harold and Maude.
- The car chase seen in Ronin (with DeNiro) was one of the best I can recall.

- Delorean from Back to the Future
- Various cars from Grease
- Stallone's Mercury hotrod in Cobra

The Charger in Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry.
Isn't that the one where Peter Fonda rammed it into a train at the end? Sudden ending achieved by the Sherriff using radio to make Peter THINK their were cops all around? Kinda lame in the end, I thought. (So was Duel really...wasn't that Speilberg's first?)
Bullet was a bit better...still had the Charger too.
Gone in 60-seconds (both versions) were good for the car guys.
I kinda liked Burt in Gator McCluskey and Smokey -- because of the cars.
The worst had to be Mark Hamill in Corvette Summer -- with that butchered Corvette.
Which reminds me...Like many guys, I liked the batmobile(s) and the Monkee's pontiac.
Pontiac was my favorite in the 60's. Honda/Toyota in the 70's (during the gas crunch). Jeeps and Chevy's after that. (Started thinking American again.)
Until I bought a VX in 2010 of course. Now I don't care for Jeeps much anymore. Wish it was American-made tho.
BTW...Ditto on Stalone's Mercury! And, let's not forget about the Munster-Mobile and that coffin-dragster.

Driving Miss Daisy
- Ferrari in Ferris Bueller
FWIW, the "ferrari" in the movie was a kit car on a mustang platform.
They were so poorly put together, that they had to have two of them, so that they could have one in running condition when needed...now THERE is a piece of useless trivia.
Loved all the crazy customs created for TV shows back in the day...
Especially when Jethro decided to hot-rod the Clampett family truck.
Hows bout a shout out for "my mother the car"...

Best road rage movie... "Vanishing Point" (Original... Not that lame remake of a few years ago )
Best "modersickle" movie... "Timerider: The Adventure of Lyle Swan"
Best over-the-top chase scene... "Matrix 2"
Best Post Apocalyptic road rally/chase... tie "Mad Max" / "The Road Warrior"
Best wheeless "modersickle" chase... Speederbike chase in "Return of the Jedi"

Mad Max and Mad Max II (aka The Road Warrior) are hands down, the best car/truck/bike movies in cinematic history, in my opinion anyhow. You just cannot beat the action or the vast array of awesome vehicles in either of those movies.

Both classics, both great movies. Also, I cannot remember which James Bond movie it was, but I remember him driving out the back of the truck to engage in a great chase scene through Italy, iirc. I think it was Octopussy...

Christine is #1 by a wide margin
Pre-crazy-Charlie-Sheen The Wraith is another old favorite
Corvette Summer (I *loved* the 'Vette as a kid, hate it as an adult, but still enjoy the movie.) Besides, don't forget it had a slick lookin' Trans Am near the end, too.
JoFotoz mentioned Duel… I never saw it until recently. Ha ha, to me that's just a typical drive to work with some oblivious / obnoxious tailgater.
Not mentioned:
Animal House - The Deathmobile!
Mother, Jugs & Speed (Just from the title you know it's got some good parts.)
I liked Will Smith's Audi in I, Robot.

Sorry, that was a 440 Challenger R/T! I went to see that with my mother in 1971. (I even got to see the nekkid bits.) I had my learners permit at the time, and my Mom let me drive home, and even do a small burn out in our slant-six Plymouth Duster!
That was my second choice of favorite car movies. Number ONE is still "Christine"!! It still gives me chills when I watch it.

I suspect more than a few here are not familiar with Akira. Don't compare it to an action movie, compare it to a superhero/sci-fi movie. Like "psychic batman in the 22nd century" or something. It looks a little less hokey that way. The graphic novel was freaking awesome.
