is your vx your daily driver, just for fun on the weekends, or something else? you can select more than one

tom4bren

I selected all three because:

1. DD: Boy is still using it for his DD (until I get the Samurai on the road for him)

2. Weekend fun: Oh hell yah!!! Even have it set up now to tow behind the RV so we can have fun all over the place.

3. Other: It's the workhorse vehicle now since the TLC died. Hauls cinder blocks, tows the SeaDoos, tows trailer to the dump on occasion, ....

I retired my first VX from DD "active duty" when I transitioned to working from home about a year ago. I use my new VX (like my old one) to do almost everything: cross-country trips with the fam, rock crawling in Moab, deep sand driving in the Outer Banks, hauling the grill to company picnics, etc. I have always felt that the VX is as practical as you decide to make it.

I use mine for a little bit of everything. It's my cargo hauler (sounds funny, but that ability is HUGE compared to my Mustang!) This year I've officially used it as a vacation rover / off-road source of entertainment. It's also my favorite vehicle to take to car shows.

It's funny, my real intent when buying a 2nd vehicle for hauling stuff started with just wanting a cheap, used truck. I was frustrated trying to get things to and from my house, but I couldn't bear thinking about getting rid of my beloved '08 Mustang. Over the last 2 years of VX ownership, I've driven it much more often than the Mustang. I love both, but the VX is just as fun on a whole different level. :)

If you can't see your reflection in the rear pumpkin - your VX isn't being maintained to rickshaw's exacting standards.:)

& unless you keep a California duster handy in your glovebox, you're not maintaining it to cobrajet's exacting standars.:)

I admire the care you guys give your VX though. My VX is loved but abused.

OK, OK, guess it's finally time to come clean....:o
Hi, my name is VX KAT and I'm a VX-aholic....I'm powerless when it comes to all things VX....

Last year I started the "rickshaw" undercarriage project......I even got some info and tips from him.
I thought with the Kilby skids covering a good percentage of it, I'd be able to do everything else.
If this doesn't convince you that we're truly a deeply disturbed bunch I don't know what will.....er.... um...maybe I should only speak for myself .:disturbed :_wtf:

I believe this falls under the category of "having way too much time on your hands"....

I spent many hours on it....but alas, finally realized I was NEVER going to come close to Gene's perfection.....so I threw in the towel...

But I did get some parts really nice and clean.....
Never quite got the pumpkin so you could see my reflection....but I got it pretty shiny:rotate:
I used Collinite Insulator wax on everything.

I use mine as a dd and vineyard truck. I personally think it's the perfect vehicle for working in the vineyards. Can carry more than an atv and has a/c but it is smaller than a truck and can get into all those small places that a full size can't. Plus none of the winemakers know what the hell it is so I get to talk about it alot. :bwgy:

Nice Tom... I assume that was with the new hitch?

Nope. Still running the Tone Clone. It's a little tweeked though. I bent it upward when I was trying to pull the plum tree back upright (too much torque from my drop hitch). I used my Mr. Scary Hook to pull the stump & it worked much better.

I hope to install the upgraded hitch on Friday when I remove the old door & install the one from your original VX. Door is painted & ready to go.

My Vx is used...or not used...as a garage queen...

I really have to say, however, that although I never had a room mate or house mate (other than my Beloved One), I think the only person on planet earth that I would ever be able to co-habitate with is Rickshaw...and I thought I was the only one that anal-retentive/Obsessive-compulsive! I use mine only as a daily driver.
I only got my Vehicross for it's looks and rarity as I can't bring myself to drive a mundane looking everyday car that you see 10 of on the road side by side.

Mine will never go offroad and will be babied as long as I own it.

I use mine as a DD and rompin around in the snow here....buuuuut, that's a bit different here than most places with the odd weather system in Juneau. It was snowing a few weeks ago, 80 degrees most of last week, and raining heavy and 50 degrees this week. We really put VX's through their paces out here, but there couldn't be a more perfect vehicle than the VX for Alaska. To prove that point....there are only 30,000 in this land locked town and there are 4 VX's....and all still running and in good condition.
