I want to get a model that I can custom paint to match my Proton Yellow VX. I see that only two Tamiya models are available:

1/32 Snap-together with electric motor:
http://i15.ebayimg.com/03/i/00/93/16/b6_1.JPG

1/24 kit (not sure of construction):
http://i20.ebayimg.com/03/i/00/ba/9e/a9_1.JPG

Any info on these kits? Is the 1/24 a snap together or a standard glue-type kit? Can the rear-view-mirror on the hood be removed?

Any info / pics would be appreciated. Also retailers if you know some other than ebay.

I have the 1/24 Tamiya kit, but I haven't put it together yet. It is a standard glue together kit. The area for the mirror on the fender has a slightly raised outline, but it could be sanded off. The wheels are pre-2000, so I'm going to look for some larger ones. It is also right hand drive. The eBay kits are as cheap as I have seen them.

Thanks for the info on the 1/24 Tamiya - I can live with a modicum of difference between my real VX and the model :) Sounds perfect!

My good friend is always working on WWII models so we can plan a model day in his garage :)

I bought the kit a while back. At one point I wanted to paint it and put it together, so I bought everything I needed and sat down with it. I started painting and, after about 2 hours, I decided I suck at keeping inside the lines, and what I had done looks lik *****.

I've given up, and may never get back to it. I may pay someone to do it for me.

I bought a model right after getting my VX. Painted it Black and even got the matt black paint for the cladding. The cat has attacked it one too many times, so its time for put together another one...

I was one of the fortunate ones who got the Tamiya model for free (had to pay a few bucks for shipping). Headshave had gotten a bunch for promotions (they have a VX promotional vehicle). They had a bunch left over and were kind enough to give them away to us on a first come first serve basis! Mighty, mighty nice of them! Mine is still in the box unbuilt, but once I get the time it will be built into a clone of mine (sort of a mini-me VX). I'll search the local hobby shops for the bigger tires!:cool!: :naughty: :cool!: :naughty:

After getting my VX, I dropped by a hobby shop and brought a bunch. 1/24 scale and 1/32 scale. So far I've only built 1/2 of 1 of the 1/32 scale. I haven't really had the time to order the different paints to do up all of them in the classic colors and some custom. Since I have off friday I guess I'll be hitting up the hobby shop for the colors. I guess seeing the pics of the Japanesse sites that have alot of VX models I guess I'll have to get into putting mine together and posting the pics. Who knows I might even make some repliacs of some of our famous VX's from here.

Tower Hobbies (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0095P?FVSEARCH=vehicross&FVPROFIL=++&search3=Go) is a good place to shop for them. They have pretty good prices and they do fluctuate.

I bought a Hot Wheels that was Foxfire red and repainted it to black, plus I added larger wheels and tires, lokks pretty cool - as soon as I figure out how to zip my pics down to a smaller size, I'll post some pics! Anybody want to help me with the zip thing? (I'm computer illiterate!)

Hey David,

That's a Cararama/Schuco 1/43rd scale V-CROSS or VehiCROSS. They also came in Blue, Orange-Red and Yellow. Die-cast with opening doors. Nice quality on the VX02.
