Congrats Chopper, I'm jealous!!! Without a doubt, the Veloster is the coolest 40 MPG gas mizer car to hit the streets by any manufacturer. It turns people's heads just like the VX.
At $25K loaded with all options, I would assume you got the normal aspirated model (2012 ???) and not the new 2013 Turbo with 201 HP which is gonna' cost a few more bones (about $27K). The Veloster's tail-lights look very simular to a VX's head-lights, and having both parked side-by-side in your driveway must look totally awesome. Unfortunately for 2013, Hyundai dropped the radiant Lime Green Metallic color which was very cool looking. Thankfully, the Veloster is still available in the Proton-clone yellow for 2013 (called 26.2 Yellow).

The Veloster 3-door coupe was primarily designed and targeted for the single mom or 3-person small family so that the newborn/toddler could be put in a child safety seat located at the 3rd door. This gives Papa Bear his favorite 2-door coupe side (thereby saving his manhood), while Mama Bear has her co-pilot seat and quick access to Baby Bear at the 3rd door location. Brilliant!!!

I liked it at first...BUT...All new cars are just too much...I want to drive, not talk to my friends on facebook.
The new Mercedes' seats vibrate if you are doing anything wrong, people are to busy talking to hear a beep.
They stop you from drifting or backing into something...Just learn to drive and pay attention!! old school rant over:p

Thankfully, the Veloster is still available in the Proton-clone yellow for 2013 (called 25.3 Yellow).
Just out of curiosity I tried to spec out a "fully loaded" Veloster Turbo, and it came in just under $27K. That's with a lot of crap you don't need. The most confusing thing was that the Yellow (2.62) was not even available when selecting the Turbo model. A Fully loaded normally asperated model came in at $24,500.

Congrats on the new ride! Just picked up the woman's new car yesterday. Got her a 2012 Hyundai Tuscon Limited with the luxury package. Loving it so far. Hyundai is really impressing me these days. Of course, I'm already shopping for mods. :smilewink

I'd chalk it up to lack of supply. It seems Hyundai either underanticipated the popularity of the thing, or intentionally kept supply low and tried to create buzz. At any rate, they are a bit difficult to locate in certain configurations. Here in Florida anyway.
I was rounding off. I think her total was 26.5+.
I love how good the phone sounds. The vocal command thing rocks. Just tell it to text and it does the typing and dialing and crap. Never hold a phone and drive again....calls who you tell it to
sends a self diagnostic to your email every oil change and every few fillups or some stuff. Only goes 500ft if someone other than it's owner tries to drive it. Geo fence allows you to set it's distance limits ie. no more than 50mi from home....you can set its speed limits. It calls you and emails you, if the driver tries to violate either limit.... and it slows and stops :)
take that ya little heathens!
still working stuff out:yeso:.....this car has a learning curve :p

Damn; your right, CobraJet. I went back and checked the website and the 26.2 Yellow is not available on the Turbo model. That really sucks because the two(2) coolest colors on the Veloster are the 26.2 Yellow and the now discontinued 2012 Lime Green Metallic.
Crap, I wonder if the Turbo edition could be "special ordered" with either 26.2 Yellow or the 2012 Lime Green Metallic??? Perhaps I'll send an E-Mail enquiry to Hyundai USA and ask. If so, then it would be a one-of-one production (much the same as the famous Pearl White VX).

I looked at this thing before we got the Forester. Much nicer interior than the Forester, but I was disappointed in the performance for the higher price. Pay that much more for the turbo and it was still only 0-60 in around 7sec. For the sticker price (it was $28k IIRC), we could get into a fully loaded Forester XT or WRX, with much better performance (and standard AWD!).
Now, of course, I was the only one who saw this "bang for the buck" performance value, and my g/f could have given a hair on a rat's arse, heh. Settled with the non-turbo Forester with complete pretty-me-up package. *shrug*
I had my eye on them for a while but after seeing it/driving it/researching it more, I just was not sold. I think it just lacks everything I have come to NEED in a car. I will give Hyundai one thing though.... they have come a long way, and when they decide to finally start stepping on toes and leading the market in various categories, they are gonna have to put little effort into doing so. They seem to be testing the waters now....

It seems to me that they've dumped a ton of money (along with Kia) into the design budget, and as a result I think it's fair to say they make some of the nicest looking autos out there. The next step seems to be the power train. Do they have a hybrid or diesel power plant in their global consumer market portfolio?

Hundai has a Sonata Hybrid. They also offer diesels in other parts of the world. Hyundai announced plans to produce 2,000 units of fuel-cell car for lease in the global market.

If I'm Toyota or Honda I'm terrified of the day those options hit the American market.

One word. Equus. I have not driven it (they would not allow test drives without an appt), but I tore through it with a mag glass and loved every detail. If I gave a hoot about luxury, I would honestly consider this over a MB or Beemer, ESPECIALLY for the price. It isn't a world cheaper, but it is cheaper, and clones just about every aspect of every luxury car you can think of.

Hyundai has stepped into the shallow waters of the luxury market, and dabbled with the Genesis sport coupe (though it falls steeply short here), so they are totally in it to win it. We all laughed a decade ago, but they just may be laughing tomorrow. :)

Hyundai has come a long way, they have great vehicles! We test drove a Veloster when they first came out, it was having a tranny issue.......but Greg (Orion on this site) still ended up with an Elantra and man it is loaded and nice, feel like I am in a Lexus! Technology I tell ya! Even my new Mini is just amazing, when I DO drive my VX it feels sooooo old :( ........and I JUST let Greg drive mine 7/4 after having had the Mini for about 6 wks, and he didnt even 'get on it' when I told him he could since the break in is over......
Congrats Wayne on the ride!!!
