I will be replacing my mode selector, also referred to as a neutral safety switch, tomorrow morning. This is my first time replacing one of these. Anyone have some tips for the job? I will be wrapping the exhaust pipe that runs by it with heat wrap. I also didn’t see a how to on the site for this job. I will take pictures of the process and throw a how to together :smack:

This should give you the tips your are looking for:

If you take pix during your repair, I'll add them to the write up & create a How2 that we can post.

LOL... I'm doing it on a friend's VX this weekend too.
It'll be the third switch I've replaced (different VX's).

It's really straight forward. Just be sure to cool the engine down before you attempt it! I learned the hard way last time. Ended up just hosing down the whole area.

Thanks for the info! Finished the job a few days ago. Yup, pretty easy minus the lack of space to work with.
1) make sure vx is cooled
2) put vx in neutral and apply emergency brake
3) locate mode selector (drivers side of transmission)
4) take off metal cover (I used a flat head screw driver)
5) use 14mm socket to take off shift bar thingy...
6) use 10mm socket to remove the 2 mounting screws holding mode selector in place
7) disconnect the selector (follow wire up, right above)
8) heat wrap exhaust pipe (optional)
9) put everything back together
10) take vx for drive :D
