View Full Version : Permission to scan VX-O2 granted by Isuzu

Isuzu just sent me a signed letter from their GM to allow any member of the VehiCROSS club to scan the VX-O2 at the next meetup at the Petersen Auto Museum. I submitted it to the museum and just have to wait to see if that will also allow us to see it in the vault without the $2500 fee. Are there still people interested in seeing the VX-O2? Isuzu is also working on a comprehensive list to send me on all the items done to convert the VX into the VX-O2.

Why a $2500 fee to see it? That's insane!

read the previous posts regarding this topic. Someone wanted to do a 3D scan at the next visit. Petersen required Isuzu permission. New ownership is asking $2500 fee for a visit to the vault where the VX-O2 is stored. I'm working on getting that waived.

well then, thats pretty damn cool. Only one VX-02 in existance? the one that was used in the movie and such?

and i'm assuming the 3D scan is to help create body panels and all that jazz? if thats the case...how did someone already create perfect bumper guards already? (rowhards products) ???

Way to go Baldwin...

Your perseverance is paying off for everyone...
...lets just hope they see reason regarding the new vault fee.

FYI...here's what I just received from the Petersen. Hopefully it's good enough to get us in at no cost other than the standard admission.

No offense...but that Cadi is ugly. Just my opinion. VX-O2 way sweeter and would run it over. Anyways, tryin' to get the $2500 waived so keep your fingers crossed.

Well if somebody wants to donate a VX I'd be happy to build a replica of one. This would be a good time to save one the VX's thats on the way to be parted out. Wouldn't want to cut up one in good shape.

Ok so what I'm guessing is baldwin is trying to get the plans or something? I have just bought a vx and am trying to learn all I can. I don't understand what he is trying to do that is normally 2500

It looks like he is getting GM to give him permission to go into the Vault at their car museum and take 3D scans of the only VXO2 ever made...the convertible. If he is able to do this, it would give someone with the proper manufacturing capabilities the information they need to fabricate body panels so that someone could convert a standard VX into a VXO2.

That's really cool, great to see someone recycling a beat-up VX into something that everyone now covets. I really like the addition of the roll bar (or whatever you call that) and I'm sure it helps with stability without adding a bunch of extra weight. The spoiler is a bit much though.

Yes, it is on the 1st post of his build thread. That roll bar is indeed a reinforced roll bar.

Any progress Baldwin? Looks like I may be in Northern California during the 2nd and 3rd weeks in September so I could probably work a connection through LAX to visit the museum. Need to know soonest though. Thanks again for working this for us!

Ok...update. They are looking at October 27 or 28th to see if they can make the VX-O2 available. I'll start a new post update. Who did we have that could do the 3D scan now that we have permission from Isuzu?
