Sorry to hear that Billy...hopefully nothing missing that can't be replaced and thank God no one was home to be involved in what could have been much worse.

Looks like all they got was some jewelry. Attempted to get a tv (had everything disconnected) but got scared and left in a hurry.
I think it was lucky for them I wasn't home....after 20 yrars of law enforcement and 4 1/2 in the Marines I probably shoot faster and straighter than most garden variety crooks. So yea, things probably would have ended badly....for him :)

It's never a bad time to invest in an alarm system. Even a cheap one with a single motion detector can be enough to scare away your common variety crook.

That's too bad... hopefully the prints will help the cops get em'

We got broken into a couple of years ago, crooks tossed the place but didn't take anything at all. We think they were probably looking for guns, jewelry, cash, or drugs, which of course we didn't have any of in the house. You could actually tell they were getting more and more frustrated as they searched the house because each successive room was more trashed than the previous. Lots of mess but fortunately nothing missing or broken. We got an alarm the next week and didn't have any problems after that.
I still like to poke fun at Sonya about it though, whenever we come back from a long trip to an inevitably messy house (packing for two little kids and a dog is crazy!) I'm always like "Holy crap we've been robbed!" To which I get a nice punch in the shoulder. :D
Hope they catch the guy(s) and definitely consider an alarm system if you're away a lot.

I feel for the thieves that break into my home. My doberman has only gotten grumpier and more ornery in her old age. Thinking the only mess I would have to clean up when I came home would be the crumbs that she didn't manage to swallow. ;)

Sucks dude. Hope you find some justice on the other end of those prints.

After taking hundreds of thousands of prints throughout my career it would be sweet justice if I took the prints that catch the scumbag!
The irony is we have always had dogs. Since my big dog Luc (170 lbs rotti/great dane) passed away we have been taking our other dog with us to socialize him more. This was his first camping trip. Had he been home a stranger would not have wanted to come through our window.

I know it's cliche to say we feel bad for the thief that would break into our places, but this board is one community where that's probably more true than most others! For my part, I'd probably have to politely ask the intruder to kindly hold while I deliberate over selecting the weapon with which to end his earthly existence.
Sorry it happened to you, Tri. Hope terrible things come the perp's way at your hand. Even if it's just off a set of prints you lifted years ago. I'd bet you still have friends in the house that will take proper care of him.

I know this sounds crass, but I only hope I'm home when some scumbag comes to break into my house, I may not shoot his punk-azz, but I'm sure gonna make him piss his pants before the cops get there!! :flame2:

I finally tracked done some good front replacement seats for my VX and even ordered them. That evening someone broke into the salvage yard and stole seats and the roof rack which I also was going to get. Thereby no seats and no rack. Not as bad as your situation but when people start stealing car parts from a junkyard thats desperate.

for some reason the feds gave my city a bunch of grant money to buy art sculptures and put them in the crappiest part of town - i guess to try to spruce things up a bit... so far every piece of scrappable metal has been stolen from all of them (couple hundred thousand of our tax dollars well spent right?)
a few months ago i had to chase a truck down my street in my underwear glock in hand because i heard someone taking my canopy swing i had in the front yard - by the time i got outside (maybe 20 seconds later) all i could see was my swing and the tail lights of a truck driving away - never had anything stolen before this and as far as i know i have no enemies so i assume they either really wanted a swing or were gonna scrap it too
also had two guys die of electrocution trying to steal the copper from one of the power stations here in town
thieves definitely suck but karma usually catches up with them

Glad there was no confrontation! Just remember there is a special place in hell for those A-Holes! I fully believe in Karma, Those low lifes will always be low lifes until they decide to treat others better!

That's crazy, you have to believe the thief owns a VX, how else would he know those 10 year old parts are so desirable? But of course I'm reminded of when Maximas suddenly sky-rocketed to the top of the most stolen cars list. It took some research before they discovered that the '02+ forward models (IIRC) had bi-xenon lights in the exact same enclosure as the '01 and previous years such that they were literally plug and play. Nissan had the bi-xenon headlights listed for like $900 each and there were no aftermarket options back then, so obviously they became extremely hot on the black market.
Maybe someone has just been watching eBay auctions? If so that's a pretty sophisticated thief.
I posted a pic on a thread here a few years back of a vintage camper i bought, i was so happy with it, i put a whole summer of labor remodeling it, brought it up north to camp then parked it at my Aunt's cotttage for the winter...It got STOLEN. and has never been found. All my hard work and pride ripped away. Theives are worthless pieces of garbage. Hope yours are caught. Sorry you WEREN'T home so you could have givn' them what they deserved.:winky:
