Was servicing my transmission, sprayed all the cross member bolts and the member itself with penetrating oil, used a breaker bar, long tork wrench to loosed each on some so I could then hit it with my impact wrench; the left side bolts, all four loosened easily, 3 on the passenger side loosened and 1 broke off right away; so I aborted taking it off; I removed the transmission mount bolts from the cross member and jacked up the transfer case and that game me plenty of room to get rear tranny pan screws off easily, it's been dripping for days now; problem, when I went to re-torque the cross member bolts, another one on the passenger side broke off; the 4 on the driver side tightened easily; are 2 enough? whats the purpose of this cross member? Am I un-safe now? trying to insert pictures; I took puts of everything, my pans are nice and shinny, tranny mount looks good? advice!http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_0254.jpg (http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/IMG_0254.jpg)http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_02511.jpg (http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/IMG_02511.jpg)

I would say it is not dire however I would try and remove/replace the broken bolts in a somewhat timely manner...that crossmember is what supports your tranny/tcaae. It sees a lot of vibration.
