Hey guys! It's been a while since talking to any of yall after selling my beautiful Proton, but I have been keeping up with the site regularly. Just wanted to let yall know what I have replaced my Proton with and what I've had to get through and am still going through to make it all work.

I sold the Proton out of Chicago and flew to NYC to buy a 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V. It's an awesome car. Wicked fast. 31 MPG on the hwy when I'm nice to it. 6 speed manual tranny. 4 doors and a trunk for groceries. It's great. I do miss the look of the "tank" and the feeling of invincibility though. :/

So I had a 1,500ish mile drive home on my first day in the car. 500 miles in, reverse goes out in the tranny. I found out by pulling into a rest stop to sleep for a couple hours then not being able to back up out of my parking spot. My crank sensor also went out on the drive home, killing my tachometer.

$1,000 for reverse repair the week I get it home. Electrical mess beyond all imagination. The car had lots of sweet upgrades and such, but had been wired by a blind folded drunk backwards I think. It was embarrassing. However, I managed to get it all fixed. The wheels that were promised to be new where bald beyond compare. $1,000 for new rubber and kicks immediately as well. Then the headgaskets go out, jeopardizing the head. So I bought a new head and had that installed. $1,400. All good, right? 2 weeks later a rod goes through the front and back of my engine block. New engine $2,500. Clutch and flywheel $700. I have been car-less for 2 months now. But we just dropped in the new engine today and are going to finish it up this weekend. It's been a miserable trip, and I have more money into the car to make it run and function normally than I bought it for. Talk about picking up a Lemon...

But the car is gorgeous and wicked fast and wicked fun. It won't handle the 300 inches of snow well, but oh well. It is what it is. Here are some pictures of what's been going on!

Just thought I'd add that I've gone through all this legitimate crap with this car I bought in NYC without threatening the previous owner with lawsuits. ;) (Inside joke of mine. I'm sure yall would find it funny too if you sold a great VX and someone then threatened to sue you back for all kinds of things like faded paint on a non garage stored VX and non working brakes after uploading almost 20 videos of the vehicle in all driving conditions, including braking demos. bahahahaha). K. Enjoy :)

Nice! Bravo on fixing up your new ride. Seriously, I commend you on a job well done. Must be nice to have time and resources to endure such a project. As for the VX you sold, you should probably discuss those matters with the person you sold it to in private. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind speaking with you. So let’s clarify some things, since you started some details here publicly. You also sold a lemon claiming it to be "Near Perfect" in your well documented words and conversations. You raved on the phone that the car was near flawless and in great condition and disclose no problems. That VX was far from that. So it sounds like you are enduring Galations 6:7 right now and it's great that you are able to take it in stride and hopefully learn from it. That person you deceived has plenty of evidence against you, but decided to show you grace after hearing your sob story and considered not prosecuting you to the full extent of the law for "Deceptive Practices". Yes, even after you promised to pay a small part of repairs but then renigged while threatening to blaspheme his name publically after he revealed the truth to you. But as you know, lemons make great lemonade and your former VX is lookin' a LOT better after putting in over $2k worth of repairs with $2k left to bring it back to "near perfect" as you called it. The complete list of problems would be too long for this forum. How you could have ever classified your former VX as "Near Perfect" or "Great" or even "good" is odd. But again, kudos to you on your job with your car. It's impressive and I believe you can have a solid career as an engineer after you graduate. Your old VX is finally in good hands now.

No offense to anyone intended, but the phrase "Caveat Emptor" comes to mind...
