Just bought a 99 VX and the Airbag light blinks when you start the truck and stays on. I checked both 10amp fuses and they are fine. Does anyone have experience correcting this issue? Please advise.

Yah, I pulled the bulb & called it done.:)

Not the recomended solution but I had to get it through inspection. Maybe next summer I'll dive into it & fix it right.

That is the easy thing to do, but how do I know if my airbags are working? Is there a relay for the airbags besides the 10amp fuses?

Other than you-N-me, I don't recall anyone with the airbag light coming on (so you might not get many responses to your question).

I'm thinking mine is caused by sensor damage after my accident (even though it didn't come on till a year after).

Careful putzin around with any relay on the airbag circuit. Make sure you have the battery disconnected. Don't want to accidentally set off the airbags.

I'll have a look in the 'lectrical troubleshooting manual & get back to you.

OK, good news/bad news.

The shop manual goes into exhaustive detail on troubleshooting airbag codes (almost 100 pages). You'll need it handy when you start going through it because the steps have to be done in a sequence (according to the manual).

Do you have a copy of the manual? If not, how can it get it to you (150MB)?

It starts on pdf page 13482 and ends on 13577 (Section 9J & 9J1).

It looks like this thing was designed by NASA.

It took some doing, but here is the SRS section of the manual for your reading pleasure.

ive been in two wrecks one with an airbag and one without - both wearing a seatbelt - both going about 45 mph - give me a car without an airbag over one with an airbag anyday those things are horrible - especially when they are 13+ years old
