View Full Version : Body Mounting Bolt Part Number

So I went to install some nerf bars which I just received mounting brackets for (Thanks T4B!!!) and am a little worried that I may snap off a bolt that holds the brackets to the undercarriage. So, I though someone may know the part description or number for the Body Mounting Bolts shown in the picture below. I'd like to have some on reserve (if I can find them) in-case something crazy happens.
This picture is showing the rear passenger mounting bolt, there are 4 of them in total, 2 front and 2 rear on each side of the truck.
Thanks in advance,
CP

DM - Those are the ones. Good find.
CP - I've not heard of anyone needing to replace them on the VX (other than for a body lift of course). I wouldn't worry about breaking them but if you want to order some for peace of mind, call Merlin. He should be able to set you up.
They can be pretty stubborn to break loose the first time but they are pretty hefty bolts. They really don't carry much of a load so although important, the original ones will outlast the rest of the VX (even with taking a hit on the NERF bar ... bar will crush before bolt is broken).
The only thing I didn't like about using the body mounts for NERF bar brackets is that it allows the bar to flex downward when you step on it.

might want to spray some penetrating oil on them prior to removal and let it work its way in - thats how i got my hood insert off those bolts were really stuck and i didnt want to break any more than were already broken

If they're any of these you can have them. (I don't think so, but thought I'd post it.) If anybody wants ANY of these let me know!

I didn't have any trouble with those when I installed the body lift. I remember the thread is a common metric size and a close replacement should be available at a good local hardware shop.

The only thing that the common bolt replacements would be missing in the tapered lead. That taper is not critical and does not serve any real purpose in this application (probably just helps to align the holes during initial manufacure of the vehicle).

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!
DM nice work on this!!!
I guess I'll give it a go with some more torque applied, I just had very bad visions of a snapped bolt with no where to get a replacement as the VX is my daily driver.
VXKat,
Don't think any of those will work, but thanks for the offer.
Thanks again,
CP
